Last week was a busy but wonderful one at Burruss. Thank you to everyone who organized, donated, volunteered, and attended our International Night. It felt like a block party! We plan to have it outside every year from now on! The next day, we welcomed over 40 rising kindergarteners and their families for Kindergarten Roundup. I love meeting our new Burruss Beavers!

On Friday, in addition to our monthly student assembly, we will celebrate the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. We will enjoy a patriotic performance by our chorus and welcome members from Marietta City Council to present us with American flags. Students are welcome to wear patriotic colors (red, white, and/or blue) to celebrate!

We have two "normal" weeks of school before we start state testing for our Grades 3-5. The weeks are filling up with fun end-of-year activitiies. Save the dates below!

A few important reminders:

  • Uniforms are expected Monday-Thursday. Friday is a "Be Yourself" day each week.
  • If your child is absent, a written note is required to excuse the absence. Notes may be emailed to albattendance@marietta-city.org.

  • When your child is sick, they must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

  • If you plan to send birthday treats to the cafeteria, they must be nut-free and made in a nut-free facility to ensure the safety of all students.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe, healthy, and ready to learn. We appreciate your continued partnership.

As always, I am here for your questions, concerns, suggestions...anything!

Kind regards,

Dr. Jillian Johnson

Principal
