Celebrating Student Success at Wilson Creek Elementary
At Wilson Creek Elementary, we take pride in recognizing students who consistently demonstrate positive character and leadership in our school community.
🌟 Creating Character Award
Each month, our school focuses on a specific Word of the Month—a character trait we aim to instill in all students. Homeroom teachers select students who best exemplify this trait in their daily actions. In some upper grade classrooms, students also participate by nominating peers who they feel have demonstrated the character trait meaningfully.
🌟 Principal Pride Award
This award is selected by our Specials teachers, who work with all students across grade levels. A schedule created in August ensures each grade level receives focused attention throughout the year. Students chosen for Principal Pride consistently embody our 3Rs:
- Respectful
- Responsible
- Ready to Learn
In addition, these students stand out for being helpful to teachers and peers, resilient in challenging situations, dependable, and an uplifting presence in the classroom.
Each month, Principal Pride recipients are celebrated in several ways:
- Their names are announced on the school news
- They receive a special prize
- Families are contacted with the good news
- Photos are taken and displayed on our lobby bulletin board and social media
- Students are invited to a celebratory group breakfast
🌟 Wildcat Winner
Each month, homeroom teachers select students who have demonstrated significant improvement or outstanding performance in relation to our school’s 3Rs: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. These students show growth, perseverance, and a commitment to personal excellence in the classroom.
We’re proud to honor these students and share their accomplishments with our community. Thank you for supporting our efforts to build character and pride at WCES!
Parents/Guardians of Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians of Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Parents,
Each year we are asked, “How do I prepare my child for the Georgia Milestones?” This year we are once again offering the opportunity to purchase a grade-specific practice book which provides comprehensive instruction and practice on all the key skills and concepts covered by the Georgia Standards. Student workbooks along with access to online answer keys are available for Grades 3-5 in Reading/ELA and Math. Science is available for Grade 5 only. The cost is $18 per book. We are only accepting Online School Payment (OSP), no checks or cash. No additional or late orders will be accepted as this is a courtesy one-time order for parents.
Please note:
- All orders must be placed through the Online School Payment (OSP) beginning today, Sunday, November 2 through Friday, November 21. No additional or late orders will be accepted, so please tell your friends and neighbors to help spread the word.
- Access the OSP link through the Wilson Creek Elementary School website homepage and click on payments. You will find it on the left-hand side under the picture logo.
- Student ID # is required to make payments through OSP. This is the same number and your student’s lunch account.
- Once in OSP you will see the title Measuring Up. You will need to click the drop down for the grade and subject.
- Please be sure to select the drop-down option for the grade level and subject of the book you wish to purchase. WCES Car Line- REPEAT
Carline Reminder and Safety Update
We want to take a moment to thank everyone for helping keep our carpool line running as smoothly and safely as possible. Your cooperation makes a big difference!
As a quick reminder, we need everyone's continued support to ensure fairness and compliance with traffic and community rules. Please take a moment to review your carpool agreement to ensure you're familiar with the expectations and procedures in place.
To help avoid longer wait times, consider arriving during the earlier window between 7:10 AM and 7:25 AM, when traffic is significantly lighter.
🚧 Important Update:
We will be ordering barricades to be placed at the secondary entrance to help manage traffic flow. Additionally, please be aware that cars making a U-turn in front of the school will be ticketed. This measure is being taken to ensure the safety of all students and families.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to keep the carline safe, efficient, and fair for everyone.
🚌 Reminder: Your child will NEVER be marked tardy if they take the bus!
Launch of Qustodio: A Tool for Families to Monitor and Manage Your Child’s Online Activity- REPEAT
As part of our ongoing efforts to support digital safety, we’re excited to share that Fulton County Schools will launch Qustodio on October 20th, a free app that helps parents monitor and manage their child’s online activity. This tool gives families insight into how students use both district-issued and personal devices.
• For district-issued devices:
o Parents can see how much time their child spends online, which apps are being used, and what searches are conducted during the school day.
o Families can also set time limits and restrictions outside of normal school hours to encourage healthy screen time habits.
• For student personal devices (optional):
o Parents can choose to install Qustodio on personal devices to monitor usage and set limits at home.
o Fulton County Schools does not have any visibility or access to data from student or parent/guardian personal devices — that information is visible only to the parent or guardian who installs the app.
After October 20th, use this link: Qustodio.com/my-school. Please use your Parent Portal email address during the sign-up process.
Thank you for helping us promote responsible digital habits and strengthen the partnership between home and school. For any questions or support, please contact myschool@qustodio.com.
