Weekly Update for August 29, 2026
Weekly Update for Truscott Elementary-Dual Language School
Weekly Message from Mrs. Hanford
Families,
Truscott has had a wonderful first full week of school. Students are learning about routines and structures within their new classrooms, while building relationships with their peers and staff. Thank you for your continued support to have your child to school each day, on time. We also appreciate your communication when your child will be absent or late.
Thank you to the families that completed the Free/Reduced Lunch form. We had 165 families complete the form within the first week of school! We appreciate it so much. If you have not completed the form, please check out the section below with additional details. As a reminder this information is confidential. Your information goes no further than our district nutrition services, who send the number to the state. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
As September is upon us, please review the important upcoming dates:
September
7 - No School - Labor Day
8 - No School - Teacher Plan Day
All my best,
Karen Hanford

Dear Parents/Guardians:
For the 2026-2027 school year, the Thompson School District will provide access to free meals for all students through the Healthy School Meals for All program. This program ensures enrolled students are provided free breakfast and lunch, regardless of family income.
Although all students will receive access to free meals, it’s still important for households to provide their income information when requested. Gathering this information allows the Thompson School District to receive the state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible for Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted or waived school fees, etc. Providing household income information ensures you and your school receive all available financial support. ***All household income information is confidential and will not be shared without your consent.***
The attachments contain more information on the application, and instructions for applying. While the following pages may reference eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals, access to breakfast and lunch will be provided free to all students regardless of household income.
