Student ID Cards and Lanyards

School is underway and all students have now received their student ID cards, so we wanted to provide you with some information about how and why these are used at Smith-Cotton Junior High.

What are student ID Cards?

SCJH is a large campus with four separate buildings. To ensure student safety, students will be required to wear a school issued ID every day.

Student ID cards will include the student’s picture and grade level so that every student is easily identifiable. Each grade level will have a different colored lanyard (Green/6th Grade, Blue/7th Grade, Gold/8th Grade) that will be worn around the student’s neck. The ID card will be attached to the lanyard. Students are required to use the school provided lanyard.

What will the student ID cards be used for?

Student ID cards will have a barcode unique to each student that will be used for the following throughout the school day:

  • To purchase school breakfast

  • To purchase school lunches

  • To check out books in our library

  • To help with overall student safety

What if my student forgets their ID badge?

Students will be encouraged to put their ID badges in their backpacks at the end of each school day since they are responsible for wearing them back to school. We understand that students may forget at times, so we have put procedures in place in case their ID badge is left at home.
