Forest Hills "Quarantalent" Show 2020

Hi Falcons! We want to see what you have been working on at home! So we are having the Inaugural Forest Hills QuaranTalent Show!

Have you made an epic fortress in your living room or Minecraft? Have you knitted a sweater for your dog, felted a beret for your cat, or made pants for your snake (a pant)? Have you made a tower of all the books you’ve read or a tower of all the books you’ve written? Have you taught your dog to sit or your baby brother to roll over?

We want to see it (as long as it’s safe and appropriate)! We want you to share all of the fun and funny things you have been working on to stay happy and sane at home! So get your camcorders out (whatever those are) and share your videos or photos with your Falcon Family!

Hi Falcon Parents! Please click on the link below and check out Padlet and make sure this is something you are comfortable participating in. The submissions will be compiled and presented via SeeSaw on the Specialists Class tab. So once your child has perfected their sourdough or their sonata (or in our house pompadour growing and pet accumulating), please upload it to the QuaranTalent show link. Let’s keep the videos under 2 minutes please and make your submissions by FRIDAY, MAY15! The Padlet has columns for each grade, so click on the (+) under your child’s grade to add your video or photo:

Class Placement Input for Parents / Guardians

Each spring, placement teams begin the process of developing the next year's class rosters. Placement teams take great care to consider a number of factors that contribute to the success of each child, including social, emotional, and academic factors. Teams also consider factors that lead to balanced classrooms that benefit all students, such as balancing class size, academic strengths and needs, and behavioral and work habits. Placement teams include your child's teacher, other grade level teachers, specialists, counselor, principal, and other staff knowledgeable of your child and your child's grade level peers.

If you would like to provide input to the placement team, please fill out the form by May 11th. Requests for specific teachers are not considered as a part of the placement process.

Class Placement Input for Parents / Guardians

Input may include:

  • Academic, social, and/or emotional strengths and/or needs
  • Instructional methods or aspects of the learning environment that benefit your child
  • Goals you would like to see next year's teacher work towards with your child

Tips for Motivating Students to Learn

It can be hard to motivate our children to learn at home. LOSD behavior specialists have created a video about what parents can do to structure things differently at home to increase student's expectations to learn. Doing schoolwork with home rules and expectations may work for some students, but not all. When it's time for school at home, setting expectations differently from typical home life may help.

Hunger Fighters Now Delivers

Hunger Fighters Oregon has now launched its delivery program for homebound, immunocompromised and at-risk individuals and families in Lake Oswego.

Requests must be submitted by Thursday to receive a delivery of non-perishable groceries on Saturday. Visit the website and click the link to submit a request. www.hungerfightersoregon.org/delivery.html

Hunger Fighters will still continue to provide curbside pickup service on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Clients who pickup groceries will receive perishable items as well such as produce, bread, dairy or eggs. Hunger Fighters cannot currently provide such items to delivery clients, but it is working towards that goal.

Hunger Fighters is live on the Nike's "Give Your Best" platform! Nike employees who have already made a donation to Hunger Fighters can request a match by attaching their receipt, and employees who wish to make a new donation can find the organization on the Nike Give Your Best platform.
