The Exley Express
We are excited to share the latest issue of The Exley Express, our student-created school newspaper! Our students have worked hard to research, write, and share stories about the people, events, and exciting things happening around Exley Elementary and our community. We hope you enjoy reading The Exley Express and seeing our students’ hard work in action.”
Book Character Parade
Our annual Book Character Parade will be held on Friday, October 30th at 8:25 after morning announcements. Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character that morning. We ask that your child not bring any toy swords, guns, or knives and that the costume not be scary or gory. Students may bring a change of clothes for afterwards if they wish. We encourage your child to carry a copy of the book or a picture of the cover for reference as they parade.
Parents are invited to come watch as all staff and students will parade through the school and then out by the bus ramp before reentering the building. If you wish to come, please park in our staff parking lot on the side starting after 7:45. Parents will line up behind the cones starting at the recess gate to the front of the building. In case of rain, students will only parade inside. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please contact your child's teacher. We look forward to seeing all of the creative and amazing costumes!
LUNCH VISITORS
All lunch visitors will need to register in advance using our new SignUpGenius form. We will continue to ask parents to limit their number of lunch visits as our space is limited. Our SignUpGenius form will have 15 slots available per lunch period and parents will only be able to sign up for one visit per week.
As usual, KISD limits lunch visitors to parents/guardians/grandparents (with form on file), and younger non-school aged siblings. Paper forms will be sent home the first day of school and will need to be returned to the front office. Grandparents will not be allowed to eat with your child unless this file is returned.
Strollers will be left in the designated stroller lot prior to entering the cafeteria.
Videos and photos may not be taken during lunch as not all students at Exley are allowed to have photos taken.
All lunch visitors will leave the cafeteria and exit through the front office before students are dismissed. Please do not follow the line back to the classrooms.
As a reminder, lunch time is a time for students to socialize with their classmates and continue to build peer social skills. Per district guidelines, visitors are not allowed to sit at the classroom tables.

Friendly Reminder: If you're sending a packed lunch with your child, please be sure they bring it with them in the morning. We kindly ask that all lunches arrive with the student by the start of the day, as we do our deliveries at 2:00 P.M. Thank you so much for helping us keep things running smoothly!
Exley Excellent Dad
We are excited about another year of having our Exley Dads come and volunteer their time! Please sign up for a day that works for you. To leave availability for all, we ask that you sign up for one slot per semester at most . Each dad will report to campus at 7:45 and check in with the front office. If you have been an Exley Dad before, please wear your shirt. If not, you will be provided one when you check in. You may bring a lunch from home or step out right before your child's lunch time to purchase one from a local restaurant to bring back in. If you need to change or cancel your sign up, please do so as soon as possible to give another person a chance to sign up. You will have a fun-filled day helping out different staff members and departments around the campus, as well as, assisting in your child's classroom and attending specials, lunch, and recess with them. You will finish the day helping out at car rider in the front. You may feel free to change your child's transportation home that day to be a car rider in order for them to leave campus with you. Feel free to call our front office with any questions you might have. We appreciate your time!

A Note from the District
FOOD FOR FAMILIES
Katy ISD’s Partners in Education invites you to support families who could use a little extra help during the winter break through our Food for Families campaign. Campuses identify students in need, and with support from the community, Partners in Education will provide grocery gift cards and a heartfelt note. Each gift is delivered by a campus staff member, reminding students that their Katy ISD family cares.
Help us turn a gift card into something more: Donate to Katy ISD Food for Families by Thursday, December 10 through Katy ISD Pay N’ Go or by check payable to Katy ISD Food for Families and mailed to: Partners in Education Katy ISD ESC 6301 S. Stadium Lane Katy, TX 77494
Volunteer Registration
Katy ISD is grateful for the thousands of volunteers who make a difference in our schools each year. To help maintain a safe and secure environment for our students and staff, all volunteers serving on or off campus during or outside the instructional day are required to register annually through the district's Raptor volunteer management system.
A valid government-issued photo ID and email address are required to complete registration.
Your information will remain confidential and will not be shared outside of the volunteer program, except for applicants who register as a Community Volunteer (not a parent, grandparent, or guardian of a current Katy ISD student) or as a KEYS Mentor. For these volunteer roles, the information required to complete a background check will be shared only with our authorized background screening provider, JDP.
Once registered and approved, volunteers can:
• Sign up as a campus volunteer by completing the volunteer recruitment form provided by their campus organization(s) or by contacting the campus volunteer coordinator.
• Track volunteer hours through their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus where they serve.
• Quickly and easily submit individual off-campus volunteer hours.
