Newbury Elementary School
Introduction
I am so thrilled to introduce myself as your new Principal and to join the vibrant, welcoming community here at Newbury Elementary School!
I come to Newbury from Cabot, Vermont, where I had the privilege of serving as both an interventionist and an administrator. During my time there, I was most proud of leading initiatives that directly impacted students' daily lives and learning—from revamping our high school lunch system to redesigning our math menu and math intervention systems. I also helped guide our classrooms and intervention programs toward evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading. Prior to Cabot, I spent the majority of my teaching career in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. There, I worked intentionally to influence school culture around these same curricular shifts while digging deeply into Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) structures, ensuring that every single student receives high-quality, research-based instruction tailored to their needs at every level.
Underpinning all of my work as an educator is a deep commitment to highly equitable, restorative practices. I believe whole-heartedly in creating an environment where students feel seen, heard, and held accountable through positive community connections. Beyond the classroom, I am a firm believer in the magic of getting kids outdoors, playing games, and building the essential leadership and communication skills they need to thrive in a community.
On a personal note, I am the proud mother of two sons in their early twenties. Together, we play in a family bluegrass band, which brings so much joy to our lives! When I’m not at school or making music, you can usually find me outdoors—I love animals, gardening, cooking, and I am certainly never at a loss for hobbies.
I am so looking forward to getting to know each of you, hearing your stories, and working together to support our wonderful students. Please don't hesitate to say hello when you see me around school or in town!

Schedule and Events
One of Newbury Elementary’s most cherished traditions is our annual fall whole-school hike up Tucker Mountain Town Forest. This tradition brings our entire school community together—students from pre-K through sixth grade, teachers, staff, and community volunteers—to step out of the traditional classroom and into the beauty of our local landscape. Hiking the trails together gives our students the chance to put outdoor learning into practice, connect with nature through their senses, and build real leadership, communication, and teamwork skills as older students encourage and support our younger hikers along the trail. Climbing to the summit together not only celebrates the start of a new school year, but it also reinforces our commitment to community, wellness, and outdoor place-based education.
