Dear CES Families and Friends,

They say time flies when you're having fun and the month of September is certainly proof of that! It's been a wonderful start to the school year with new students and staff, returning friends, and lots of engaging activities.

At CES we make an effort to celebrate each of our students. You may have noticed at Curriculum Night that our hallways are filled with student art, work samples, and motivational posters. We are committed to celebrating each student's hard work and success.

For the last two days, our Grade 1-4 teachers and service providers have been engaged in data meetings to review beginning-of-the-year assessment data in the areas of math, reading, and social-emotional well-being. We use these meetings to inform instruction, create groups for remediation and groups for enrichment, as well as to develop programming. Our SHARKS are off to a great start and we look forward to tracking their continued success throughout the rest of the school year. Thank you for sharing your amazing students with us!

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Kelly

CES is Hiring

Have you ever thought about working in a school? CES is hiring for a full-time Instructional Assistant. Instructional Assistants work closely with students in and out of the classroom. They provide social, emotional, and academic support throughout the day and have strong relationships with students and staff members.

The Instructional Assistant hours are 7:30-2:15, Monday - Friday. Instructional Assistants have planning periods and a 30-minute lunch break each day. If you are interested in learning more about our open position, please contact Dr. Kelly jakelly@monomoy.edu and come be a SHARK!

HES is Hiring

Harwich Elementary School is also trying to fill some open positions. They are currently in need of cafeteria staff. The position is 6.75 hours each day, Monday-Friday.

If interested, please reach out to Food Services Director, Garth Patracca at gpetracca@monomoy.edu

Electronic Policy

Students may not use their personal electronic devices during the school day. Personal electronic devices include smartwatches, phones, and cameras. Students may bring their devices to school and should keep them turned off in their backpacks to use after school hours when they are off-campus. Smartwatches may be used to tell time only - students who are using watches to connect to the internet or communicate with others will be asked to leave their watches at home.

Under no circumstances should students or parents be communicating through devices to one another during the school day or while students are in after-school clubs. All communication between home should go through the Main Office. Thank you for your help in this matter.

A Note from Nurse Jaime's Office

A gentle reminder that if your child has a fever over 100 degrees, vomiting, or diarrhea, please keep them home until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.

We also encourage COVID testing at home for any student who may exhibit COVID-like symptoms. If your child tests positive, the date symptoms began is their day zero. They should remain out of school for 5 days and may return on day 6, granted they are fever-free and have an improvement in symptoms. When they return they should wear a mask until day 10, and on day 11 they will be clear and may remove the mask. The school no longer tests the students for COVID, this should be done at home.

Please contact me with any positive cases or questions.
