Dr. Ellington visits our Career Investigations Class!

Career Investigations welcomed Dr. Allison Ellington, OTD, OTR/L, from the University of Virginia on October 5. Dr. Ellington, Founding Program Director of UVA’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, introduced students to the occupational therapy profession and discussed how occupational therapists help people participate more fully in everyday activities. Students also had the opportunity to experience Virtual Reality technology used in occupational therapy firsthand, using the VR software from the perspective of a patient. The hands-on experience gave students a unique look at how technology is being incorporated into healthcare careers and allowed them to explore another career pathway in an engaging and memorable way.
