COVID Guidelines

For Shelby-Rising City Public Schools

COVIDGuidelinesFor Shelby-Rising City Public Schools

It is here and will be around for awhile...

At Shelby-Rising City Public Schools, we are in the business of making sure that we are keeping our students and staff safe. With this new Delta variant going around, we are going to be experiencing positive cases and that is the new "norm" unfortunately.

We wanted to be as transparent as possible with what is coming toward us throughout the beginning of the new school year. Listed below are scenarios and what we are asking to do.

Close-contact

  • If you are in close-contact with an individual who test positive, you are on "monitor" status and looking for symptoms of covid (this is for five days).

  • Anyone who has been in close contact will be contacted by school officials. Covid test is recommended but not required if showing symptoms.

  • Masks are recommended but not required.

Absences & Documentation

  • Any student with covid-19 will be logged as "Remote Learning" and absences do not count against.

  • Any student who is out because of monitoring for symptoms will be logged as a normal "parent excused absences". If a positive case comes a few days later, all absences will be changed to "Remote Learning".

  • Documentation needed for any positive case so absences can be held.

Learning while out

IF OUT WITH COVID

  • Elementary - We will have teachers create homework packets that can be picked up at the office. This will be an every other day type of packet that can be turned in when parents drop off.

  • MS/HS - Teachers will be communicating to each student (through email, canvas or zoom) with assignments and how to's when it comes to work. We would ask all students to respond to each of their teachers so we know they have received the instructions for that day/week. This will be our standard for recording absences.

IF OUT BECAUSE OF MONITORING

  • Elementary - Parents, please contact the school to let us know your child will be home. Our teachers will have work for the student as if it was a normal sick day for them to make up.

  • MS/HS - Parents, please contact the school to let us know your child will be home. All students can log into their appropriate teachers website to find their assignments for the day. Our teachers will have work for the student as if it was a normal sick day for them to make up.
