PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - Mr. Goodrich
Nederland Middle-Senior HS Community,
The last few mornings there was snow on the ground at my home in Coal Creek Canyon. My wife tells me that we have a possible foot of snow coming next week. As usual, we typically get a good dump just before graduation. Things are really picking up here at school. There are so many end of year events and activities happening (I have listed them below).
Nederland Senior High School is recognized by the College Board as a Silver Award winner. The designation goes to schools that have high levels of participation and performance on the end-of-year AP tests. Over the next two weeks Nederland High School students are taking assessments in the following subjects: AP US History, AP Literature, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science and AP Calculus.
The number of students at Ned taking AP exams increased this year to 55 (36 last year) and the total number of AP tests taken by students increased from 65 to 96. The vast majority of students at Ned are taking advanced academic courses and course work. We truly believe that our students will benefit beyond high school if they are challenged in high school with college level curriculum and courses. We have fantastic teachers, who know the content, attend professional development for the content and teach the college board standards to prepare students for the end-of-year assessments. Last year 90% of our students who took an AP test, received a “3 or higher” (which allows students to earn college credit at most universities).
The annual Art at Altitude school art show is today (Friday, May 2). It starts at 5:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
Have a great weekend,
Gavan
