Message from Mrs. Tremps
Dear Brandywine Families,
As we close out the first quarter, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s learning. Our Badgers are making wonderful progress every day as we strive to Be the Change across our classrooms and community! October is filled with exciting opportunities, and I’d like to share a few important updates with you.
Parent-Teacher Conferences & Online Learning Day October 16: Conferences are a wonderful time to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate growth, and align on goals for the next quarter. As a reminder, Friday, October 16 is an Online Learning Day for students while parent-teacher conferences take place.
To get the most out of your conference, consider:
Bringing questions about your child’s academic and social development.
Sharing insights about your child’s unique strengths and interests.
Collaborating on strategies to support growth at school and home.
A Look Inside Our Professional Learning (AIM Day October 19): Our educators are dedicated to continuous growth so they can Be the Change in our classrooms every single day. On Monday, October 19, our staff will participate in AIM (Advocate, Improve, Measure) Day. Staff will dedicate the morning to district-wide professional development. In the afternoon, our teachers will return to Brandywine to dive into "Peek-on-a-Peer" collaborative learning and learn about structured engagement strategies led by our ESOL Coach, Ms. Aguirre. Investing this dedicated time into our professional growth directly translates to richer, more engaging learning experiences for our students. (See our FCS Learner Profile below.)
Spotlight on Learning: Let Grow Projects & County Learner Profile: We are exceptionally proud of Ms. Steele, our 3rd–4th grade students, and our participating families for taking on their Let Grow projects! These initiatives empower our Badgers to step up, build confidence, and truly Be the Change in their own lives through real-world independence. This hands-on growth aligns directly with our new County Learner Profile, developed with valuable input to ensure our students build the critical thinking, adaptability, and leadership skills needed for lifelong success.
Highlight from Ms. Steele: It’s wonderful to see the growth and confidence our 3rd and 4th grade students are gaining through their Let Grow experiences. As I read through student reflections and parent feedback, I am inspired by the independence our students are developing through projects such as cooking, shopping, managing family chores, getting themselves ready for the day, and even helping younger siblings prepare for bed. Parents have shared their pride and joy in seeing their children successfully take on new responsibilities and realize what they are capable of accomplishing on their own. I am excited to continue supporting our students and families as we explore new Let Grow projects each month and celebrate the confidence, responsibility, and life skills our students are developing.
PTO Updates & Raise Craze Success: A huge thank you to our incredible PTO and everyone who supported our Raise Craze fundraiser during the week of September 21st! Our students showed us what it means to Be the Change by combining daily acts of kindness with raising funds for school enhancements and campus beautification.
Raise Craze Grand Total: $10,412
PTO Movie Night: Mark your calendars for Friday, October 23rd for a fun family evening under the stars! More details to follow soon.
Important Safety Reminder For the safety of all students during lunch and recess, please ensure no glass containers or bottles are sent in student lunchboxes.
Thank you for being such a vital part of our Brandywine community. Together, we will continue to Be the Change and make this school year extraordinary for our students!

Counseling Connection
October 2026
Happy October Badgers! It's hard to believe that the first two months of school are already over. We've been busy making our way through all the classrooms to do counseling lessons, and we have loved working with your students. All classrooms started the year off by learning more about our role as a school counselor. For some students, they may not be familiar with our role here at Brandywine and for others, we use the opportunity to refresh everyone's memory. Our job is very diverse, and we are fortunate to support students in multiple ways.
This year, we are starting off our counseling lessons by covering hot topics like identifying small vs. big problems, conflict resolution ideas, and bullying. In conversations about conflict resolutions, students learned that conflicts are a normal part of being around people. It's important to recognize that most conflicts with another person can be solved with a few different strategies like respectfully using an "I feel" statement, taking a break and walking away, ignoring minor conflicts, and reporting to an adult when something is an emergency or they've already tried to solve it on their own. Although it is a difficult conversation to have, our students learned about bullying and what it means to be an upstander. Students worked through how to recognize bullying and how to know the difference between a mean moment, a conflict, and bullying. When learning about how to work against bullying, students discussed how to support others and how to make positive choices when they see someone being treated unkindly. By encouraging students to be upstanders, we are hopeful that they feel courageous and brave enough to stand up for others.
Looking ahead for this month, Brandywine's annual Wellness Week will be celebrated during the week of October 26-30. This week is an opportunity to focus on how making healthy choices can positively impact our overall wellness and future. We will have a daily challenge to help promote making healthy choices. Be on the lookout for the challenge flyer to use at home.
On Saturday, October 24th, we will be hosting our monthly community outreach event at Brandywine. We are very fortunate to have The Place of Forsyth and Forsyth Community Clinic partner with us and support our community. The Place provides a mobile pantry with eggs, bread, produce, and non-perishable goods. Forsyth Community Clinic has a free mobile clinic that works with uninsured, Forsyth County adults. Anyone in need is welcome. Please share the word and let us know if you have any questions.
We would love to continue having our Coffee & Conversation events and we would love to get your feedback. Please click HERE or scan the QR code to leave your thoughts about what would make C&C worthwhile.
Have a great month:)
