We truly appreciate your support and contributions to these efforts. Thank you for helping make a difference! Congratulations to Mrs. Bobrows’ 5th grade class for collecting the most cans, with over 89 pounds! Way to go Coulston Comets!
Registration 26-27-Mark Your Calendars
Registration for the 2026–27 school year will open on July 6.
Please take a few minutes now to make sure your PowerSchool username and password are working. Our front office will be closed from May 29 through July 15, and staff will not be available to assist during that time. If you need help accessing your account, please contact us before May 29 so we can support you.
Registration can be completed online from the convenience of your home. For families who need additional assistance, we will host a help session on Monday, July 20 from 10:00 AM–7:00 PM at Shelbyville High School (SHS). If you need assistance prior to May 29, please reach out to the front office. Thank you!
Toys and Fidgets
We want to remind families that toys and personal fidgets should not be brought to school. While we understand that students enjoy these items, many have been used as toys and have become a distraction to learning.
Our school provides appropriate fidgets for students who need them in the classroom, so there is no need to send them from home. In particular, Needoh-type fidgets are not allowed, as they have been known to burst and cause damage to carpets and classroom materials.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a focused and safe learning environment for all students.

A Note From Mrs. Reed-Child Abuse Awareness Month
Mrs. Reed, our school social worker, is available to support students and families with social, emotional, behavioral, and school-related needs. She works with students individually and in small groups, helps connect families with school and community resources, and supports students in developing positive coping, problem-solving, and relationship skills. Lines from the Library:
Here we are, the end of the 2025-2026 School year! What a great year for the CES Library! The NCAA Grant has provide about $4000 worth of additional books,
a Book Taco reading app for classrooms, book give-a-ways and book incentives for classrooms and the CES library. We have been very grateful to be one of 6
Indiana elementary schools to earn this grant!
This past week is the last for book check out. The coming week of May 11-May 15 is book return for all students. We require all library book return is by Wednesday, May 20 so
inventory can be completed by Friday, by May 22.
Students will have an opportunity to pull an item from the Library Treasury box if they have their blue Log as their ticket from the last nine weeks. Students will also have the option of a free book
instead of the treasure box. Please look at home for any additional library books that may be hiding on shelves, under beds, in closets or by couches! We would rather have the books back
instead of having to charge our families for new books! Thank you so much for helping us to take care of our 8416 book collection! Happy Summer, keep reading!

Cell Phones – Indiana law now prohibits cell phones in the classroom and at school. Please keep this in mind if your child brings a phone to school.
Attendance – A new law requires interventions and parent conferences after 5 unexcused absences in a 10-week period. More information will be sent home this week.

Tardy students must be signed in by a parent or guardian. Students may not sign themselves in or be dropped off without an adult if they arrive after the tardy bell.
Please help make sure your child arrives on time so they do not miss important instructional minutes at the beginning of the day when routines, breakfast, and the tone for learning are being set.
Transportation Changes – Must be called in by 1:00 PM. After this time, changes cannot be accommodated. Just a reminder that students being picked up after 2:00, need to be picked up in the car rider line.

We would also like to remind families how important regular school attendance is for student learning and success. Our school goal is to maintain an attendance rate of 95% or higher, and we appreciate your partnership in helping us reach this goal.
We are currently working on a school-wide incentive to encourage and celebrate strong attendance, and we look forward to sharing more details soon. Thank you for your continued support in making attendance a priority.
