Dear Grant Community,
The school board has approved furlough days and is in the process of adopting a revised schedule for the remainder of the school year. At this time, changes to our A/B Calendar have not been fully finalized. We will continue to communicate updates as they become available.
As part of this change, there will be no school on Friday, May 1st.
Additionally, the last day of school is now June 5th, and our finals schedule has been updated to reflect this change:

Light Installation Delayed
We want to update our community that the installation of stadium lights at Grant High School has been delayed and is now expected to occur later this year rather than the originally planned winter/spring timeline. We understand this is disappointing for our student‑athletes and families, and we share that frustration, especially knowing how much evening practices and home games mean to our community. Local news reports note that permitting, contractor availability, and other scheduling challenges have contributed to the delay, and while the project continues to move forward, there isn’t a firm date yet for completion — we will share more information in the coming weeks as we learn more.

GRANT ART NEWS
Come celebrate the extraordinary work of our student artists and over a decade of funding for public school arts, with performances and an exhibition featuring student honorees from our school!
Our Grant Students, "Carter" Randolph Carter, Cristina Culi, Lucian Schneider and Eleanor Strauss Cornelius will have their work in the museum through September. Also, our very own Grant Dance Collective will be performing at the opening.
Portland Public Schools is proud to partner with the Portland Art Museum, our host for the 2026 HeART of Portland: A PPS K-12 Arts Showcase. This premier district-wide annual event kicks off with an evening of student dance, music, and theatre performances, along with the opening of a stunning student visual art exhibition featuring over 100 works.
Windows of Our Future: In addition to the 100+ works, this year’s visual arts exhibition also features a citywide collaborative student art project inspired by the theme Windows of Our Future. Drawing on the symbolism of windows – reflection, light, and new perspectives – and the newly reimagined spaces of the Portland Art Museum, students created vibrant “stained-glass” style artworks exploring identity, imagination, and the possibilities ahead. Guided by PPS visual arts educators, each piece contributes to a larger installation that brings individual visions together into a collective reflection of our community’s future.
