Free Tax Preparation Support Through IRS VITA Program
As the tax filing deadline approaches, the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is providing a valuable opportunity for eligible individuals and families to receive free tax preparation services at local sites, including Now Forward, Concord Church, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
This initiative not only supports the community but also connects directly to CTE programming in Business and Finance. At the Concord Church location, individuals may have the opportunity to work with Accounting practicum students from the School of Business and Management, who have earned their IRS VITA Advanced certification. This creates a meaningful, real-world experience where students apply their technical knowledge while serving the community.
We encourage campuses and departments to share this resource with their networks—including students, families, staff, and community partners—to ensure those who qualify can take advantage of this no-cost service.
Flyers with eligibility requirements and required documents are available in both English and Spanish for distribution.
This is a strong example of how CTE programs are not only preparing students for careers—but also empowering them to make a real impact in their communities.
