SEPTEMBER STUDENT & STAFF OF THE MONTH
Sturgis Brown High School is proud to announce the Student and Staff of the Month for September 2025! The Student of the Month has demonstrated outstanding character, leadership, and academic effort, while the Staff of the Month has gone above and beyond to support students and colleagues.
STUDENTS DOING POSITIVE THINGS
For the month of September, Sturgis Brown High School students were recognized for going above and beyond through positive referrals from both peers and teachers. These students stood out for their leadership, strong character, and willingness to help others, demonstrating what it truly means to be a Scooper. Whether through acts of kindness, responsibility, or taking initiative, each of these students made a positive impact in the school community.
As a way to celebrate their efforts, each student received a popcorn and soda certificate to use at the SBHS concessions during any home game, along with a special "Scoopers Making a Difference" Scooper Sam T-shirt. These rewards not only highlight their achievements but also encourage all students to continue building a culture of respect, leadership, and pride at Sturgis Brown High School. Congratulations to all who were honored this month for making a difference!
KBHB/KWIK MART ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KBHB/Kwik Mart Athlete of the Week is Jaxon Cano of the Scooper Football Team! Cano passed for over 100 yards and rushed for nearly 130 last week vs Aberdeen! Congratulations Jaxon!
FCCLA SUPPORTS BREAST CANCER
This October, the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is taking action to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a special fundraiser. Students and staff are invited to purchase Italian Sodas for $4 during all lunch periods on October 7th, 8th, and 9th.
The fundraiser not only aims to raise money for breast cancer support initiatives but also to bring awareness to the cause within the school community. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink on these dates to show solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.
Featured Flavors:
🍒 Cherry
🍓 Strawberry
🥤 Raspberry
The event combines a fun and flavorful experience with a meaningful cause. All proceeds will go toward supporting breast cancer awareness and related charitable efforts.
Don't forget to stop by during lunch, grab a refreshing Italian soda, and wear pink to show your support!
FOOD DRIVE BENEFITS AREA STUDENTS
The First Interstate Bank Food Truck and Food Drive, held on Homecoming and throughout the month of September, was a tremendous success for the Sturgis community. The event raised an impressive $1,300 along with a large collection of food donations to benefit local students. All proceeds and donated items will go directly to the Scooper and Stallion Closets.
Community members donated a wide variety of items, including single-serve mac and cheese, granola bars, fruit snacks, ramen noodles, protein bars, hygiene products, and more. These contributions will help ensure that students have access to essential food and personal care items when they need them most. Thanks to the generosity of the community, this fundraiser will make a lasting impact on local students and families.
STURGIS LIQUOR DONATES $2,000 TO SUPPORT SBHS STUDENTS
Sturgis Liquor is making a meaningful difference for local students with a generous $2,000 donation to Sturgis Brown High School. The funds will directly support two important causes: Sam’s Closet and delinquent lunch accounts.
Sam’s Closet provides students with essential items such as clothing, hygiene products, and school supplies, ensuring that every Scooper has the resources they need to succeed. A portion of the donation will also go toward helping students with outstanding lunch account balances. The funds will be used to match existing lunch resources, easing the burden on families while making sure no student goes without a meal.
We truly appreciate Sturgis Liquor's generosity and commitment to supporting youth in the community. Contributions like this highlight the importance of local partnerships in meeting student needs and creating a strong foundation for success both in and out of the classroom.
