All ticket orders will be cross checked against an official enrollment list from FBMS, and no physical tickets will be distributed. Please list your student's name when placing your order. Please sign up to help with additional donations and support for the 8th Grade Class Night event! Donations can be dropped off at the main entrance during school hours on Friday June 7th or at 2:30 pm at the cafeteria entrance (parents will be setting up). The Grad Night Live team has generously donated extra snacks/drinks to FBMS for Class Night so as of now our list is very small. We may require additional snacks and will update this sign-up if needed the week of June 3rd. As this event does not require parent chaperones, we are in need of parent volunteers for clean-up of all the amazing decorations that are being planned to make this evening special for the kids. We need your help so please consider volunteering. https://furnacebrook.ptboard.com/sgnvw?group=&signup=owINicINRieJW5_WZFpZznN___51rGrtD3___nCu3dCZ
MR KILE'S ART CLASS
Students in Mr. Kile's art class began creating their three dimensional masks using Celluclay. Below, students work with the clay and a mold, and then begin the process of painting and working with other materials, including paint, to create a mask.
SPIRIT DAYS
MR. BOUDREAU & MR. BALDWIN'S SCIENCE CLASSES
8th Grade Science classes spent some time outdoors this week while testing lab data.
LATE BUSES END ON 6/5
Please take note that late buses end on June 5th. Students staying after school after the 5th will need to arrange their own transportation.
Paper-Strip Art
Students in Mrs. Burnett's class used strips of paper to create shapes and dimension by weaving.
Fitness Testing in PE
Students wrapped up their Fitness Testing this week. The Fitness Test challenges students to run, stretch, do sit ups, and push ups to their best ability. Good fitness is good health which we want for all of our students. Have this time within the schedule to move around every other day is great for students growth and development. The PE Department shares the top scorers in each category and applauds the efforts of all students! Thank you, Mrs. Newcomb-Baker, Mr. King, and Mr. Gilbert, for making these events fun and getting students up and moving as you always do!
8th Grade History
Students in Mrs. Segalla's class demonstrated their understanding of the various responsibilities of local, state, and federal government with a quick "Musical Chairs" activity. As students were "out" of the game as the music ended, they had to answer questions accurately about the various levels and could then bump other students out of the game. Very creative!
Summer Reading....
This year’s FBMS Summer Reading program offers a selection of books in order to incorporate a choice of perspectives and genres. The goal is to foster a love of reading and support students' individual learning needs.
This summer and next school year we will focus on the theme of “Empowering Change, Inspiring Hope.” We have identified age-appropriate books which demonstrate stories that focus on the idea of connecting with others around the world, understanding diverse perspectives, and fostering a sense of responsibility towards global issues. Through these books, students can develop a deeper understanding of their roles as global citizens and how they can contribute positively to a more interconnected world. We have created a suggested list below. Students can use this list as a guide to helping them find the right book. Any book chosen not from this list should still fit into the chosen theme.
Please note that summer reading is required of all FBMS students.

When students return in the fall, their English teachers will give directions on how to submit the required assignment. Students will have time in class at the start of the year to discuss and finalize the assignment. This assignment will count as a grade for Term 1. We look forward to discussing these themes in the fall!
Have fun and happy reading!
FBMS TRACK TEAM
Our FBMS track team participated in the South Shore League meet this past weekend. Boys took 1st place by one point over Pembroke and the girls team came in 2nd. A tremendous effort by all. Congratulations!

Grade 7 has an annual Field Day approaching. Bring your A-game and wear your sunscreen! A huge thank you to Physical Education teacher Mrs. Sarah Newcomb-Baker for organizing! Also thank you to the PTO and Kate McCabe for providing so many items and financial support!
MRS. AMARAL'S CLASS
As a final project, 8th graders in English are creating satirical skits which draw attention to a societal issue using humor. The skits are a great way for students to demonstrate their understanding of the elements of satire.
