Rilke is seeking volunteers on Saturday, Sept. 26th from 9:00 am - noon to help prepare our garden beds for winter! Please bring your garden tools and help with weeding, clearing out beds, and other general garden-care tasks. This is a triple volunteer hours opportunity, and your help will ensure the beds are ready for spring planting. Thank you for supporting Rilke's gardens!
Rilke Schule is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic paraprofessional to join our team. This position offers a wonderful opportunity to support student learning, collaborate with educators, and contribute to a positive and engaging school environment.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with students and committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom experience. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers with instructional activities, supporting students’ academic and social development, and helping maintain a productive learning environment.

Rilke's Lost and Found is currently overflowing with jackets, water bottles, lunch containers, and more! We encourage all students and families to stop by and check for any missing items.
Lost and Found items will be available for pickup through Friday, October 2nd. After that date, all unclaimed items will be donated.

- PK-Kindy German instructor ($25-36/hr DOE, 2 hr minimum pay) class Saturday mornings for 90 minutes
- 2-3 grade German instructor ($25-36 DOE) for a 60-minute class for Saturday mornings/ midday
- 4-6 grade German instructor ($25-36 DOE) for a 60-minute class for Saturday mornings/ midday
- Assistant ($15-20/hr, 2 hr minimum pay)- perfect for High School student- Saturday mornings
We can provide materials, and if needed, lesson plans. Intermediate to advanced German language skills required, perfection is not. We are looking for motivated people that want to advance their skills with younger students.

The Rilke Schule D.C. Travel Club will be hosting the first Kinoabend (movie night) of the year on October 2nd from 5:30-8:00 for students and siblings (3+ and able to use the restroom with no assistance). This is a drop off only event and will help support their trip. Find event and ticket information using the link below!
Get ready to run, cheer, and have fun at the ASD South Area Elementary Cross-Country Running Jamboree! This exciting event will take place on Wednesday, September 30th, 2026, at the Service High School soccer field and trails.
Students in grades K–2 will run a ½ mile course, while students in grades 3–5 will take on a 1-mile run. The event kicks off with an optional course walk from 4:00–4:30 PM, followed by a welcome and national anthem at 4:45 PM. Grade-level races will begin at 5:00 PM, with staggered start times throughout the evening.
Registration is required. Signed permission/waivers (attached below) should be sent to Frau Reimer.
Day-of registration will be available, but pre-registration is strongly recommended.
Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your child’s race, as parking may be limited. We look forward to seeing our young runners come together for an afternoon of fitness, fun, and school spirit!

Rilke Schule has been approved by the Anchorage School District to have a 6th - 8th grade girls volleyball team!
The season will begin in November and run through December. Frau Adney will serve as head coach and is excited to launch this wonderful new opportunity for Rilke’s middle school girls.
More information about registration, practices, and the season schedule will be shared as we near the time to start practice.

Please give your child a warm and loving goodbye at the designated drop-off area. A staff member will come to the line starting around 8:00 am - 8:05 am to help them enter the school safely. Parents and guardians are also welcome to wait in line with their child(ren) until the teacher arrives to escort the class into the building.
This routine helps children build confidence and independence while supporting a safe and smooth arrival for everyone. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and continued support as we make this transition together!
