Dear Parents,

Statistics show that in elementary schools 3-5 % of students have lice at any given time. Please keep in mind, head lice are not dangerous and do not carry disease; however, it can be stressful for parents and cause a lot of anxiety when having to deal with head lice. The key to the prevention/detection and management of head lice is to screen regularly and keep a good quality metal nit comb on hand. Please take the time to screen your child on a regular basis and treat only if you find lice in the hair. The best way to screen your child is to follow the instructions found on our nurse website. Checking Your Child for Head Lice
