The Magi

Today's Gospel shares with us the account of the Magi who traveled from distant lands to seek out the Christ child. It is a day to be reminded that we, as seekers, can find God in the most unlikely of places! Have your eyes been open to the presence of God? Are you willing to embrace these little glimpses of light and love or do you feel like you're still wandering around in Advent darkness? Christ has been born and is present in our world, for ALL of creation. In the coming year, let yourself be led by an "epiphany" spirit. Look for signs of God and recognize Him in the most unlikely of places. And then, reflect that light and love back to the world!

Warm Things for the Unhoused

We are entering the coldest period for individuals who are unhoused in our communities. Now is a perfect time to clear out unused coats, hats, gloves and other gear to share with area clothing closets. Or, in your generosity, make use of after Christmas sales to buy and donate new coats, socks or handwarmers. Other helpful items include thermal shirts, sleeping bags, blankets, and scarves. As always, make sure your items are clean and in good condition and check the organization you choose to donate to, for its specific needs.

Make a Visit to the Baptismal Font

On January 11, we will celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. This is an ideal time to walk your children over to your church's baptismal font and share your memories of their baptism! What do you notice about the placement of your parish baptismal font? Are there any images on it? Is it small or big enough for a person to be immersed? To learn more about the symbolism and importance of the baptismal font, watch this short 2 minute video from the Archdiocese of New York.
