Warm Things for the Unhoused
We are entering the coldest period for individuals who are unhoused in our communities. Now is a perfect time to clear out unused coats, hats, gloves and other gear to share with area clothing closets. Or, in your generosity, make use of after Christmas sales to buy and donate new coats, socks or handwarmers. Other helpful items include thermal shirts, sleeping bags, blankets, and scarves. As always, make sure your items are clean and in good condition and check the organization you choose to donate to, for its specific needs.

Make a Visit to the Baptismal Font
On January 11, we will celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. This is an ideal time to walk your children over to your church's baptismal font and share your memories of their baptism! What do you notice about the placement of your parish baptismal font? Are there any images on it? Is it small or big enough for a person to be immersed? To learn more about the symbolism and importance of the baptismal font, watch this short 2 minute video from the Archdiocese of New York.

Chalking Your Doorway with an Epiphany House Blessing
Use this blessing from the USCCB today or on the traditional Epiphany date of January 6. Epiphany is also known as Three Kings Day and it marks the twelfth day of Christmas.
Pray Always
As January draws us toward thinking about baptism, here is a family prayer experience to remember your child's baptismal anniversary (or your own) from Loyola Press:

Over dinner, talk about where you would go if you could travel to any place warm today.
Do they know there are places in other parts of the world that are not cold in January? What do they think life might be like in those places? What do they like about winter?
