Happy New Year, DeKeyser dolphins!! We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and a smooth return to school this week. Thank you so much to all the families that helped the New Year kick off to a great start by donating items to Restock the Lounge for our beloved teachers and staff. We appreciate your generosity in showing our school how special and appreciated they are!
Please remember that our first annual Daddy Daughter Dance form and payment was due this week by Friday, January 9th! This event is scheduled for Friday, January 30th from 5:30-8:00pm at Shelby Gardens. Our beautiful DeKeyser daughters can enjoy a magical night out with their Dad, Grandpa, Uncle or any special father figure. There will be a full banquet dinner, live DJ, photo booth, professional portrait, activity station, dessert bar, and MORE! The cost was $60 per couple (Dad/daughter) and then $25 for each additional daughter. Payment was due by Friday, January 9th with cash or check payable to DeKeyser PTCG accepted or paying online using Zeffy by clicking here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/life-of-a-snow-girl-daddy-daughter-dance We look forward to having you join us at our Life of a Snow Girl event!
Be sure to start saving your coins for our upcoming COIN WARS to begin!! Starting on Thursday, January 15th, each classroom will have a jar displayed on the shelves in the collaboration space to drop coins in until January 23rd. Each coin is worth points that match their value and the classroom that has the most points at the end wins! HOWEVER....each class can also sabotage one another and try to deduct points by dropping any dollar bills into the jars! The classroom that earns the most points will win a visit from the Dolphin Delights carts loaded up with snacks, drinks, and treats galore for students! Get those coins ready, dolphins!!
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, January 13th at 6:00pm in the 3rd/4th collaboration space for our next PTCG meeting. We have lots to share about Coin Wars, Daddy Daughter Dance, the DeKeyser Care Closet, and more! Thanks so much for joining us!

We Love Our Volunteers and Visitors!
We are asking for your support to help keep our students safe. If you plan to volunteer in our classrooms, work directly with a student and/or chaperone a field trip, etc. you will need to have a volunteer background check on file. The new volunteer application form is located at this link: www.uticak12.org/volunteer. The background check involves multiple state and federal law enforcement databases. We greatly appreciate the involvement of our families and the difference you make at DeKeyser Elementary. Thank you for your partnership with this extra step that will improve safety in our school.
A few reminders:
- Please have all required documentation ready before you begin.
- The application must be completed in one sitting.
- One application can be used for multiple schools
- Once approved, you will be cleared to volunteer in UCS schools
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the DeKeyser Office: OfficeDeKeyser@uticak12.org or 586-797-4400.
