A Message From Your Principal
Dear Eames Way Families,
It has been another wonderful week at school! Our students are working incredibly hard in their studies, and they are having a lot of fun while doing it. Classrooms have been full of curiosity, creativity, and excitement as students continue to grow as learners each day.
A very special thank-you to our PTO for generously funding the “Fossil Discoveries” enrichment experience for our second graders this week. It was absolutely fantastic! The students had a dino-mite time learning about fossils—it was truly a blast from the past and an experience they will remember for a long time.
As we head into the weekend, we wish all of our families a happy and meaningful Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. We are also very excited to welcome students back next week for Acceptance Week, as we celebrate kindness, inclusion, and respect throughout our school community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are so proud of our students and grateful for our amazing families.
With Warmest Wishes,
Ms. Bishop
Principal

Winter Indoor Recess Update
At EWS, our goal is for students to enjoy fresh air and outdoor play as often as possible. Each day, we carefully review the weather and consider several factors before making a recess decision as early as we can. These factors include:
The “feels like” temperature (indoor recess is typically held when it is colder than approximately 20 degrees or warmer than 90 degrees)
The condition of the playground and blacktop (for example, ice, mud, or unsafe surfaces)
Wind conditions, as our hilltop location often brings stronger winds
As winter gear makes its way back into daily use, we kindly ask that families label students’ outdoor clothing, especially hats and mittens. This small step goes a long way in helping items find their way home and supports our Lost & Found efforts!
Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and partnership during the winter months. We truly appreciate your support as we work to keep our students safe, healthy, and happy!
PickUp Patrol Reminder
EWS uses PickUp Patrol, a free online application, to manage attendance and dismissal plan changes efficiently and accurately. It eliminates the need to call, email or write notes.
As a reminder, families should conveniently use PickUp Patrol to notify the school for ALL of the following student updates:
- Absent
- Late Arrival
- Early Dismissal
- End-of-Day Dismissal Plan Changes
If you have any questions, please review the PUP Parent Guide, which is provided by PickUp Patrol, or the EWS PickUp Patrol Overview, which is provided by EWS. If you still need help, contact the EWS Front Office (781-834-5090 or vquigley@mpsd.org) or PickUp Patrol at support@pickuppatrol.net. Thanks!

Ice Skating
EWS PTO Winter Ice Skating will be held on Wednesdays from 2:00-2:50 pm at Pilgrim Skating Arena in Hingham from January 14th through February 11th. The cost is $8/skater each week. Parents and siblings are welcome to skate too!
Families may sign-up and make payment via PT Board at the following link: EWS PTO Ice Skating Sign-Up.
Please note the following:
- Helmets are required for everyone under the age of 18.
- There are no rentals available at the facility so you must provide your own skates and helmets.
- Hockey sticks and pucks will be allowed, however, only as long as it remains safe and kept to one side of the rink. (Please discuss this with your children who want to play hockey.)
- Pilgrim Skating Arena requires a waiver.
- As for payment, there is a small credit card processing free via PT Board. If you prefer to pay by cash or check, select that option at checkout and PTO will collect cash/checks at the event. Checks should be made payable to Eames Way PTO.
If you have any questions, please contact Julie Brown (617-780-9646).
Nurse Update
Here are a few tips to stay healthy and stop the spread this winter season:
Practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, cover them with an elbow, not a hand.
Clean high-touch surfaces in your home frequently with household disinfectants.
Keep your child home from school if they have a fever, especially in combination with a cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, congestion, runny nose, or sore throat. They should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
Avoid social gatherings if you or your children are ill.
Proper handwashing, nutrition, adequate hydration, and regular sleep are the best ways to prevent illness. These strategies also shorten the duration of an illness.
Helpful tips for students to be successful at school:
Please pack a healthy snack EVERY DAY. Great snacks include easy-to-eat fruits and veggies like apples, oranges, carrots, and cucumbers as well as whole grain snacks including granola bars, and crackers. Cheese sticks and yogurts are another great option. These ideas help keep hungry bellies at bay and students ready to learn!
Have your child bring a water bottle to school EVERY DAY. The students have access to the bottle fillers and can refill their water bottles as needed throughout the day.
We want to be able to send students outside for as long as possible despite the chilly temps. Please be sure students dress in layers for school- they need warm weather gear for outdoor play even when the inside temperature is warm. If students do not have appropriate warm weather/snow gear their outside activities may be somewhat limited so they stay warm and safe.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 781-834-5090 x44500 or email me at awhite@mpsd.org
District Update: Intentional and Balanced EdTech Use
Volunteering at EWS
CORI applications need to be redone every few years and we are currently in a three-year cycle covering 2023-2026. All volunteers need to complete a CORI, even if you were approved prior to 2023. Please visit the Front Office to complete a CORI application and provide a copy of your license - it will only take a minutes. Applications are then reviewed by MPSD Central Office, which can take up to a week to process. If you have any questions, please contact Val Quigley (781-834-5090 or vquigley@mpsd.org).
However, to clarify, if you have an approved CORI from last year, it is still valid for this school year!
Lunch Menu & Nutrition Update
Ice cream will be available for purchase on Fridays starting October 10th!
Breakfast and lunch are free options to all students for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note, breakfast is available upon arrival from 8:35-8:50 am, however, students can also get breakfast during the morning once the school day starts if they skipped breakfast or forgot their snack. For more information, please visit MPSD School Nutrition.
My School Bucks is an online account for families to easily manage and pay for school meals, a la carte items (such as ice cream), etc. These accounts stay with students throughout grades K-12 and funds can be replenished when balances get low. Here's the information from the MPSD Nutrition webpage on how to set up your account - My School Bucks.
