CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS NEWS
JROTC: We had our biggest competition of the year, TOP GUN, hosted by Caney Creek Navy JROTC on April 12th. We competed in many events, placing 3rd in Academics, 1st in the Rucksack Challenge, 2nd place in Orienteering, 1st in Marksmanship, 3rd in the Combat Fitness Test, and 1st Place for the overall event! Individually, our Marksmanship Team members did very well: senior Lily Cummings took 1st in the Kneeling position and 2nd overall; senior Ainsley Frye took 2nd in the Kneeling position, 1st in the Standing position, and 1st overall; and sophomore Aiden Phillips took 3rd in the Standing position. Well done to all 34 of our cadets who competed!
We also had our last round of our Quarterly Awards this week. The following cadets were competitively selected as the winners: Freshman Airman of the Quarter: MJ Ibarra; Upperclass Airman of the Quarter: Alonso Olivares; Noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter: Rojaun James; and Flight Commander of the Quarter: Ioannis Koymarianos. Congratulations to all!
Earlier this week, we had a Spirit Night at Raising Caine’s, which is one of the many ways that the corps receive funding for its resources and competitions. Thank you to all who came out to support our program! On April 11 we held a Dining Out Ceremony which was also a going-away dinner for one our very own, Lt Col McMartin, who will be “graduating” at the end of the school year after 10 years teaching JROTC. This was a formal ceremony with lots of cadets, alumni, and parents of both current and past cadets!
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: Newly accepted members into National Honor Society, please see Mr. Balluck if you did not receive your QR code or have not joined the official GroupMe! All future communications and events will be posted there that will allow you to letter. Also, all mandatory dues (includes your t-shirt for events) as well as an optional hoodie for colder weather events have been added to your student accounts online. Please pay no later than May 2, 2025. For questions please contact pballuck@conroeisd.net.
SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: The induction ceremony for the new candidates will take place on May 5th at 6 p.m. in the LGI 2 by the orchestra room. Please dress with a semi-formal attire for this event. Seniors who have completed all requirements should also attend. Please see Ms. Mauri for more information.
THE CLIMBING CLUB: Explore your sense of Adventure and Fun! The Climbing Club at TWHS provides hands-on experience. We climb for free once a month, at CLIMB Woodlands. Practice climbing, bouldering, or learn how to belay. Everyone is welcome to join, no experience is needed! If you have any questions, please come to our next meeting on Friday, April 25th at 3 p.m. in room 243, or see our advisor Ms. Rogers-Wilson.
FINE ARTS
TWHS BAND: Our 2 non-varsity concert bands participated in the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest last week at Klein Oak HS. Thank you to all who came to support them in the audience. They both had fabulous performances and scored very well with the judges. WAY TO GO BAND! Our Varsity concert band (Wind Ensemble) will be performing today (April 17) at UIL.
The conclusion of the preliminary performances for the Annual TWHS Solo Festival begins April 29. Students in our first & second block classes will be performing their solo with a piano accompanist. Then, without missing a beat, the music continues in May! On May 3rd, the Semifinalists of the Solo Festival will perform throughout the day at Lone Star College; and Final performances will be on May 10. The final school concert will be on Monday, May 5 at Bock Auditorium at McCullough JHS; all three concert bands will be performing. CLINIC NOTES
Vaccines
If your student has received any vaccines this school year, feel free to send a copy or screenshot to the clinic at school so that we can update the record on file. You can also email it to aransley@conroeisd.net for the Senior Campus, or efalcon@conroeisd.net for the Ninth Grade Campus.
Immunization Records
If you have a graduating senior and need a copy of their vaccine record, please be sure to request that to be picked up by your student or emailed to you before May 27th. We are not able to fulfill requests made during the summer, and we do not submit vaccine records to schools. Colleges and universities require an additional dose of the Meningitis (MCV4) vaccine that is received on or after the 16th birthday, and you may want to also discuss the optional Meningitis B vaccine with your child's doctor. That is a newer vaccine that is available to children ages 16-18, and it protects against an additional strain of the meningococcal bacteria.
School Orders for the 2025-2026 School Year
As you begin to schedule summer doctor's appointments or physicals, please be sure to have your child's doctor renew their school orders for the 2025-2026 school year. We do require new orders each year for chronic conditions that could possibly require management or treatment at school, such as:
- Asthma
- Severe food or environmental allergies
- Seizures
- Diabetes
- Migraines
If your child participates in an activity or sport on campus that requires a physical and also has a chronic condition, please submit a copy of doctor’s orders for the 2025-2026 school year with their physical form, and also have them turn in a copy of those orders to the clinic.
Extra Clothing Returned
If your child has come home in clothing (shirts or pants) from the clinic, we ask that you wash the items and return them to school. We don't have any pants remaining to lend out to students because they have not been returned.
New Clinic Website
Please visit our new website! You can find information about medications, copies of blank medical forms, emergencies and illness, students with Diabetes, crutches and elevator passes, immunizations, and community resources by visiting the TWHS Clinic website at https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhsclinicinformation/home.

Our community is known for its warmth and hospitality, and we are committed to supporting new families as they settle in and become part of our district. Iytzia Cardenas, with over 13 years of experience and a personal understanding of this transition, is available to guide and support families every step of the way, helping them feel welcomed and informed. DISTRICT NEWS
ABSENT REPORTING APP: In an effort to make things easier for our families, CISD is launching an app to help you report your student's absences to our school when they are out. Documentation such as doctor's notes will still need to be submitted to our campus attendance office, but we are excited about the convenience of this new app. You will access it through the Parent Portal. The directions are included in the link. https://kb.conroeisd.net/kb/absence-reporting-system-app-parent-directions
SCHOOL CASH ONLINE: Attention Parents: Please be sure to check your child's School Cash Online account frequently. The website is www.conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com. Fees are added throughout the year for various activities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fees charged to your child, please contact the classroom teacher or club sponsor. Failure to pay fees listed as "required" or "overdue" may result in a student not being permitted to participate in some extracurricular activities. If you need assistance logging in to School Cash Online or adding and viewing your child's account, please visit schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support and view the resources available to help.
