Message from the Superintendent
I recognize that the gratitude bug usually hits in November and not May. The bug has struck me frequently this spring, though. I want to utilize the newsletter to share some appreciation.
I appreciate our wonderful students. From our youngest students to seniors in high school, our students are excelling in and out of the classroom. We are fortunate to have over 1100 students that for the most part are driven, talented, hardworking, and caring. In each building, every single day, there are moments of magic. We hope our students know that they make us proud. In a direct connection to our students are the great parents and families that support their child(ren). I have found myself noticing how great our students and families are to partner with throughout this year.
I appreciate our fantastic staff. We have a group of dedicated individuals who inspire, challenge, teach foundational skills, care for students, and do so much more that cannot be put into words. They are the key contributors to us being a great place to learn and work. As a small token of our appreciation, we participate in Staff Appreciation Week. This year, Staff Appreciation Week is May 5-9. If so inclined, feel free to show our staff some love and appreciation. I am proud of our team of staff members and everything that they do for our students!
I appreciate our community. I thought of our community recently because it was National Volunteer Week. It was a good reminder that our district is fortunate to have so many volunteers. This includes parents, students, staff, community members, clubs/organizations, non-profits, and businesses. These volunteers give their time and knowledge to impact our students and teachers in so many amazing ways. The aforementioned groups host onsite learning experiences, apprenticeships/work-based learning partnerships, financial support, strategic planning feedback, and serve as mentors. Furthermore, our community recently supported an operational referendum. We cannot give enough thanks for that support. Our community cheers on, rallies around, and greatly supports our schools.
Connected in some way to each group is our Board of Education. I appreciate the Board for taking on what can be at times a thank-less role. Thank you for supporting our students and staff!
I will be the first to admit that we are not perfect. Also, neither are any of the groups referenced above. In a day and age where bad news is probably focused on more than good, it is fun to come across great moments each day. I simply want to say thank you to our school community. We look forward to a great final month of the school year!
