Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families,
I hope this message finds you well. Today, Ms. Erskine-Wilson and I had the opportunity to meet with each grade level to talk about behavior expectations as we approach the spring season. With spring comes spring fever, and while we have amazing students, it’s always a good time to remind them of our Hawks expectations. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring that we maintain a safe and positive environment for all our students to learn and grow.
Thank you for your support in making our recent dance such a success! As a reminder, there are only 2 more days to bid in the Silent Auction. We have many fantastic items available! You can view and place your bids here:

Climate Survey – We Need Your Help!
We are seeing improvement in our climate survey results. We’ve reached 39% participation—thank you so much for your support! If you haven’t yet completed the survey, I sent home a form asking for your signature to confirm completion. Your participation is incredibly helpful as we continue to improve our school community.

We’re excited to offer a free after-school STEM program for students in grades 3-5 on Tuesday, March 18th. Please see the flyer below for more details and registration information.
Attention Fifth Grade Parents:
As your child’s time in elementary school comes to an end, we want to celebrate their accomplishments. If you're interested in purchasing a yard sign for your child, please see the information below.
Lastly, don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend. While we lose an hour of sleep, I’m personally grateful for the extended daylight in the evenings—it helps me get my walks at the park in more consistently.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Nancy Lahey

Counselor's Corner
Hello Parents,
As we move into spring, it's a great time to check in on your child's well-being and academic progress. Here are a few tips to support them through the remainder of the school year:
✅Encourage a Growth Mindset - Remind your child that mistakes are part of learning. Praise their effort, persistence, and problem-solving skills.
✅Maintain Consistent Routines - With spring break and warmer weather approaching, routines can get disrupted. Keeping a regular schedule for homework, bedtime, and screen time helps children stay on track.
✅Talk About Feelings - Ask open-ended questions about their day. Help them name their emotions and find positive ways to express them.
✅Teach Healthy Coping Skills - Deep breathing, journaling, physical activity, and creative outlets can help children manage stress.
✅Stay Engaged with School - Check in with teachers, review homework together, and encourage your child to participate in school activities. Your involvement shows them that education is a priority.
If you have any concerns or need additional support, feel free to reach out. Wishing your family a wonderful and successful March!
Warmly,
Shannon Reynolds

Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC positions.
Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:
• Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
• Manage the Request for Flexibility process
• Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations • Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
• Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form https://www.fultonschools.org/our-district/charter-system/elections. Forms will be available on Monday, February 5th.
We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or our Charter System Overview https://www.fultonschools.org/our-district/charter-system/charter-system-overview

Also, please send in empty cereal boxes or cereal box type cardboard for upcoming weaving lessons. If you have any old CDS you would like to get rid, we will take those as well. Thank you so much for all of your support.

Beanstack Reading App
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
