Principal's Message
As I prepare to conclude my time as Principal, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to you and your children. It has been a true privilege to serve this remarkable school.
Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated milestones, and watched our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Your trust, partnership, and support have been essential to our shared success. The strength of this school has always come from the close connection and communication between home and school, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together.
I will carry with me many fond memories—moments of joy in classrooms, at extracurricular activities, at performances, and during school events. Most of all, I will remember the resilience, kindness, and enthusiasm of our students, who inspire me every day.
While this is a farewell, it is also a celebration of a thriving school that will continue to grow and flourish. I am confident that the staff and leadership will continue to make decisions that will nurture a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment for all students.
Mr. Nickel has been an unbelievable Admin partner for the past three and a half years and I am proud to know he will be the Acting Principal. He is incredibly compassionate, collaborative and solution-based. CHSPS is in very good hands.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your children’s educational journey. It has been an honor to serve as Principal at CHSPS for the past four and a half years and as Administrator for a combined six and a half years, and I will always hold this school close to my heart.
Health and wellness,
Mr. Cowan
Treaty Acknowledgement
The land on which we gather, traditionally known as Asiniskaw Sipisis (Stoney Creek), is Treaty 6 Territory (traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous peoples). The land provided a traveling route and home to the Maskwacis Nêhiyawak, Nakoda, Tsuut’ina Nations, the Métis, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships to the land create a rich heritage for our learning and our life.
