๐ง๐งLEELANAU CHEESE - MiSTEM TEACHER IMMERSION ๐ง๐ง
Educators Dive into the Science of Cheesemaking at Leelanau Cheese
On the evening of May 22, fifteen regional educators had the unique opportunity to participate in a hands-on cheesemaking experience at Leelanau Cheese. Led by award-winning cheesemaker Josh Hall and his colleague Nick, the group explored the fascinating science behind the cheesemaking process. Outfitted in hairnets and gloves, participants engaged directly in stretching mozzarella, crafting string cheese, and taste-testing a variety of cheesesโincluding their own creations. The evening culminated in making fresh pizzas topped with their handmade mozzarella, and each attendee took home a batch of fresh cheese.
This immersive professional learning experience was made possible thanks to the expertise of Josh Hall, support from Science Consultant Linnea Gibson, and the enthusiasm of our participating educators.
Stay tuned for more Teacher Immersion Field Tripsโreal-world learning adventures that bring STEM to life. Where will we go next?
