5/13 Lions Pride ~ Orgullo de León

Estimadas familias,

Espero que todos estén bien y hayan tenido una buena semana. Es difícil creer que solo nos quedan 19 días de este año escolar. Hay tantas cosas sobre las que reflexionar sobre este año y, afortunadamente, tenemos más tiempo para hacerlo, pero sé que todos sentimos que las cosas se están calmando y que hay cambios en el horizonte.

La semana pasada estuvo muy ocupada en James John, ya que comenzamos nuestras pruebas estatales en los grados 3-5 y tuvimos varias clases y grados saliendo en excursiones. Nuestros estudiantes de tercero a quinto grado han hecho un excelente trabajo al perseverar en las largas tareas de lectura y escritura del examen estatal de artes del lenguaje y la próxima semana abordarán matemáticas. Más adelante en mayo, la mayoría de los grados también tomarán nuestras evaluaciones MAP de primavera en Lectura y Matemáticas y esperamos compartir con ustedes todo el progreso que los estudiantes han logrado este año. Hemos enfrentado tantos desafíos planteados por esta pandemia, pero es inspirador ver cómo todos hemos perseverado y seguido aprendiendo.

Mirando hacia el final del año, espero que todos marquen sus calendarios para nuestro Carnaval Escolar de fin de año el miércoles 8 de junio de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. Tendremos comida, juegos y muchas actividades que serán divertidas para toda la familia. También estamos emocionados de celebrar a nuestros increíbles alumnos de 5.° grado en su ceremonia de promoción el último día de clases, el 10 de junio a las 12:15 p. m.

Dear Families,

I hope you all are well and have had a good week. It is hard to believe that we only have 19 days of this school year remaining. There are so many things to reflect on about this year and we fortunately have more time to do that, but I know we are all feeling of things winding down and changes are on the horizon.

This past week was a busy one at James John as we began our state testing in grades 3-5 and had various classes and grades heading out on field trips. Our Third through Fifth Grade students have done an excellent job persevering through the lengthy reading and writing tasks of the state Language Arts test and next week they will be tackling Math. Later in May, most grades will also be taking our Spring MAP assessments in Reading and Math and we hope to share with you all the progress that students have made this year. We have faced so many challenges posed by this pandemic, but it is inspiring to see how we have all persevered and continued to learn.

Looking ahead to the end of the year, I hope you will all mark your calendars for our end-of-year School Carnival on Wednesday, June 8 from 5:00-7:00pm. We will be having food, games and many activities which will be fun for the whole family. We are also excited to be celebrating our awesome 5th graders in their promotion ceremony on the last day of school, June 10 @ 12:15pm.
