Blue Jay Families,

The 2024-2025 school year is off to a great start. It is always so exciting to have our students back from summer break. Summer is a great time for fun and relaxation, but we are hitting the ground running and it is so important for parents to stay involved.

Our focus this year is #MJaysMasterpiece. We believe that we have the best students, the best teachers, and the best community around. Our school wants to strive to make every day a masterpiece as we educate students. #MJaysMasterpiece will be the focal statement this school year for our district as we continually strive to serve students in our mission statement of "preparing each student for a successful future." The Marshfield R-I School District is very proud of our community and the students that we serve.

Please be watching for our parent newsletters and various other forms of communication that are sent out as we work to make sure that families are informed regarding what is going on around the district. Also, please be mindful of the district calendar and try to schedule as many appointments as possible on Monday to allow for your student to be in attendance as much as possible. It is important for us to utilize our time together as much as we can. Attendance will continue to be important and an area of focus at each building.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with your students. We would encourage all families to be active participants in their child's education. We are looking forward to another great school year in living out the district's purpose and mission.

Proud to be a Blue Jay,

Mike Henry, Superintendent

STUDENT SECURITY CODE SYSTEM STUDENT SECURITY CODE SYSTEM

Student safety is a priority at Marshfield Schools! To ensure student safety, we utilize the Student Security Code System. In order for your student to receive changes in his/her after school plans OR any message at all, per phone call or note, the caller must know the assigned student security code or the note must have the assigned student security code on it. In addition, bus notes must include the student name, bus # and address the student will be traveling to. Students can ONLY travel by bus to addresses previously set up for the student. Each student is allowed 2 addresses for bus transportation.

Dear Parents,

At Marshfield Schools our goal is to ensure that every student attends school regularly.

Research shows a direct correlation between school attendance and success in school. Being at school is essential for student’s academic success starting in preschool and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.

In the State of Missouri the expectation is for students to be in attendance at least 90% of the school year. We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances, but we also know that when students miss too much school, regardless of the reason, it can cause them to fall behind academically. Absences can add up quickly. Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent—which means missing 14 or more days over the course of an entire school year. That means that a child is chronically absent if he or she misses just two days every month. If a student misses more than 14 days of school, that child has not met the state’s attendance requirement. High School students who have achieved a 95% attendance rate (missing no more than 8 days per year) have met attendance eligibility requirements to participate in the A+ Program. The A+ Program provides two years of cost free college tuition when the child meets attendance and other eligibility requirements.

We want your child to be successful in school and look forward to seeing your child in class. Marshfield Schools strives to empower parents as you guide your children to create lifelong habits that will lead to success in school and in life. To do this, please ensure that your child attends school every day and arrives on time. Work with your child to set a goal of having good attendance in order to meet a 95% attendance expectation. If you have any questions or need more information please contact your child’s school.

Sincerely,
