Fugett Families, We’re almost there! 🐾
It has been such a joy connecting with so many of you through our Family Town Halls, Community Night, and 6th Grade Back to School Night. Thank you for the warm welcome, great conversations, and excitement you have already brought to our community.
A huge shoutout to our incredible Fugett staff who have worked hard this week preparing classrooms, collaborating, and getting everything ready to welcome our students. We are ready for them! I could not be more excited for the first day and all that this year will bring.
One Pack. One Purpose. One Fugett.
With gratitude,
Zak
🏀🥍⚾Fugett Sports 🏈⚽🏒
Sports begin this week! Students should listen to announcements and check Schoology for information from coaches regarding dates and times! All students participating in 7th or 8th grade Fugett sports must have a PIAA physical in FamilyID. As we kick off another exciting season of Fugett sports, we want to make sure everyone starts off on the right foot.
Here are a few important reminders to help our student-athletes have a safe, successful, and fun season:
Dismissal times will be shared during AM/PM announcements, so please listen for them and stay in class until the appropriate time. Also, take a moment after school to keep your personal belongings secure by using a locker or bringing a lock for extra peace of mind. As always, remember that you're a student first and an athlete second: if schoolwork gets tough, reach out to your coach and take advantage of academic help so you can stay eligible and keep doing what you love. Wear your Fugett pride with good sportsmanship, representing yourself, your family, and our school well, and take a look at the WCASD code of conduct on the Fugett webpage/handbook for details on eligibility, lateness, and absences.
New This Year: Sway Concussion Baseline Testing
This year, Fugett Athletics is excited to introduce Sway Medical, replacing our previous ImPACT concussion testing program. Sway is a newer, more comprehensive concussion assessment tool that looks at areas such as balance, cognitive performance, reaction time, and symptoms. It also allows us to use the same platform for sideline evaluations and follow-up testing, making it a more versatile tool for our Athletic Trainer and our student-athletes.
Baseline testing will be completed at home using a student's or parent/guardian's smartphone or tablet. Instructions and the Sway access code will be provided at the first team meeting or after rosters are finalized following tryouts.
We are excited about the switch to Sway and believe it will give us a better, more versatile tool for evaluating and monitoring our student-athletes throughout the season, while helping us continue to provide the best concussion care possible.
🌟 Fugett Celebration: Making an Impact! 🌟
iHistory
Join the Fugett iHistory Club! This club is open to students in all grades and provides opportunities for experiencing history and historical places throughout the year.
Interested students should look at the information sheet in Schoology and follow the directions to sign up by September 15. If you want to attend the first trip, to Annapolis on September 21, see Mr. Swift in 115 or Miss Peters in 313 for a permission slip ASAP!

💲WCASD Activity Fee Reminder💲
The West Chester Area School District has a tradition of offering high-quality extra-curricular programs for students. To support the costs of these programs, an Activity Fee is applied to extra-curricular programs supervised by a contracted coach, advisor, or director. This yearly fee allows a student to participate in one or multiple funded activities, and the maximum amount a family may pay per year is $250.
The 2026 - 2027 cost per student* for WCASD Middle Schools is $87.00.
*Family Fee Cap is $250 maximum.
Our district is committed to ensuring that no student is denied participation in an extra-curricular because of cost concerns. Families experiencing financial hardship can find information regarding financial help on our website or through your school caseworker.
Once your student is rostered to participate in a funded sport or activity, please pay the activity fee by using the online payment method, PaySchools Central. Other payment information is located on our Activity Fee Website.
If you have questions, please visit our, email activityfee@wcasd.net or contact your school’s athletic department, coach, or advisor. As always, thank you for your continued support of our district’s schools and programs.
