SUPERINTENDENT & PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents/Guardians and Families:
Celebrating Our GLTS FFA Students’ Success at the State Convention!
At the end of last week, thirteen students from our Landscaping & Horticulture program proudly represented GLTS at the 95th Annual Massachusetts FFA State Convention in Framingham. They joined 430 students from 19 schools across the Commonwealth in a dynamic showcase of skill, leadership, and school pride.
Our Reggies competed in six challenging contests—agricultural sales, public speaking, employability skills, science fair, demonstrations, and marketing—and they shined! Congratulations to juniors Elenny Volquez, Ashley Perez, and Francelys Gonzales Beato, who earned 2nd place for their outstanding marketing team project. Sophomore Nicholas Marshall was recognized with a Star Award for his exemplary service as part of the convention’s courtesy corps. And to top it all off, GLTS was awarded “Best Dressed” for our students’ consistent and professional display of the official FFA uniform.
We are incredibly proud of all our FFA students. They truly exemplified the core values of both FFA and GLTS — leadership, professionalism, and community.
Special thanks to Mr. Peter Leonard for his continued dedication to our FFA program and for supporting our students throughout the convention.
Congratulations, Reggies!

Career & Technical Education (CTE)
The 9th grade Holding Days was a time that students anxiously awaited their shop placement. Congratulations to everyone and we hope that you are looking forward to a great high school experience at GLTS. The time also provided an opportunity for students to experience some great guest speakers. Cory Mashburn from the Massachusetts Partnership for Youth spoke to the students about internet safety and avoiding the pitfalls of the internet. Joanna de Pena represented Top Notch Scholars and spoke to the students about forming their plans for high school, being leaders, entrepreneurs, and becoming positive thinking individuals.
School Counseling & Admissions
COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS
GLTS will be hosting a Job Fair for Seniors on May 1, 2025. Area companies from various industries who want to hire skilled workers with vocational/technical skills will be here at GLTS to meet with our soon-to-be graduates. It will be a great opportunity to talk to them about, and apply for, full and part time positions with great opportunities for advancement. Seniors should bring updated, printed copies of their resumes so they can apply on the spot
The School Counseling Department will be leading College JumpStart workshops for four year college bound juniors starting on Friday April 11 during WIN in Room 7009, near the Wellness Room. The goal of these workshops is to provide support and information to those students who have an interest in applying to four year colleges and universities. This workshop will give juniors a head start on the college application process. It will provide:
- Assistance in understanding the college admissions process
- An opportunity to identify and develop a list of colleges and universities
- An introduction to the Common Application
- An introduction to the financial aid process
