What's the Word
Greetings Team!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
I want to take a moment to say how truly grateful I am for each of you. The work you do every day matters your dedication, your care for students, and your commitment to this school community do not go unnoticed. You show up, you give your best, and you make a difference in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. I am proud to be part of this team with you.
I shared this Tuesday, as I continue to reflect on the changes ahead, I want to continue to center us in a place of optimism and purpose. Change can stretch us, but it also creates opportunity. I am confident in OUR ability to rise to the occasion. We will do this by supporting one another, growing together, and embracing the possibilities in front of us. How we move forward matters, and I see a staff that is more than capable of leading the way with flexibility, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
I hope you enjoy the treats planned for you this week. I want to shout out and send a HUGE thank you to our PTO (Ms. DeBona) for going above and making sure the staff feel appreciated.
You all are extremely special to me. I couldn't do this without you...

AP Corner <NEW Updates>
<NEW> Respect, Teamwork, Excellence
An update from the Nurse’s Office: we are seeing a lot of students come to the nurse’s office for reasons that may not warrant an immediate visit to the nurse. There were over 140 student visits to the nurse in a 2-day period this week. Nurse Rachel has asked us to use the “B Rule” to determine when to send students. This is common practice in school nurses’ offices in order to ensure students are missing as little instruction as possible. The “B Rule” is to send students if they are:
Bleeding: Significant bleeding (not minor paper cuts).
Breathing: Difficulty breathing, choking, or asthma issues.
Broken Bones/Injuries: Obvious deformity or inability to move.
Barfing/Bowels: Vomiting or diarrhea.
Burning Up: Fever
Bee Sting
Bugs: if there is a potential for bed bugs or lice
Being Medicated: students who have established routines to receive medications from the nurse.
If a student needs a bandaid, the nurse has bandaids she can give to your class to be used without a trip to the nurse. If a student bumps their knee/arm/hand/leg/other part of the body and there is no bleeding, deformity, or bruising, have the student wait a minimum of 10 minutes before visiting the nurse. If the pain decreases and they can move it normally, they do not need to see the nurse. If there is a questionable “grey-area” concern, call the nurse’s office for further guidance. If a student has a stomach ache, but has not had either of the Barfing/Bowel symptoms listed above, they need to stay in class.
The House Point Entry Form is here.
NEW Testing
Thank you everyone for the hard work so far on ILEARN. We have finished the ELA and Math CAT for almost all students, just a few left to catch up. We have the ELA Performance Task, Science/Computer Science (gr 4 & 6 only), and Social Studies (gr 5) left. Have students keep pushing to the end and keep talking about the importance of Grit and Stamina.
ILEARN Online Testing Scripts for TAs.
If a TA (Test Administrator) feels that you may need to report testing irregularities, let Mr. Low know right away for guidance and support.
The District Assessment Calendar is here.
REPEAT Safety Committee
We are making progress with safety measures throughout the building, including students having passes. However, we are still seeing students in the hallways without a pass. Remember: even if a student is just going to the restroom, they need a pass!
Teachers and staff: if you see a student in the hallway without a pass, please make sure to send them back to where they came from to get one. This ensures students have explicit permission to go where they are going and keeps us all accountable. It also ensures that a staff member knows where that student came from if they have to add them to an evacuating group during a fire or tornado drill. We have had instances where students say they have permission from a staff member, when in reality they did not. Together, we can ensure all students are always safe and accounted for.
Remember: these district safety measures are non-negotiable:
Doors locked and closed at all times.
Safety bag should travel with your class everywhere. Keep an up to date class list inside.
See Something, Say Something! If you see an adult or student in an area they should not be, or you are not sure if they should be there, approach them respectfully and calmly and direct them to where they need to be. We are all responsible at all times for student safety.
Students must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. A student in the hallway at the same time as another adult who is not directly responsible for that student at that time does not meet an adequate standard of supervision.
REPEAT Attendance
The attendance tracker is up to date. Thank you to everyone who is getting those calls completed. This is a constant need, so it is best to check it as often as possible and make calls when you check it. Don’t put it off, they only take a few minutes.
Check it every morning to keep the calls from piling up, and we’ll do our best to do the same.
Please remember to enter attendance by 9:15 every day!
REPEAT 504/SPED Information/Discipline
Remember to update the 504 tracker for students! This document is essential to ensuring we have evidence that 504 plans are being followed with fidelity as well as providing evidence to analyze and evaluate any changes that may need to be made when annual 504 conferences come around.
Remember: our goal this year is to reduce referrals by 10% overall. We have also set a SIP goal of ensuring positive referrals outweigh Discipline referrals.
REPEAT Exact Path
We will be making a small adjustment to the The district expectation remains: 10 minutes per subject at least 4 times per week. Communicate to parents that students can also use Exact Path at home.
Coach's Corner
It’s May! I’m both excited and sad. There is so much going on, so remember I am here to help!
EOY assessments
The window for EOY assessments is May 4-15. Below are the assessments for each grade level. You can access the resources to print on the Acadience website under Resources or in this folder. Per Mrs. Tramil, we will administer PSF, NWF, and ORF during WIN time as much as possible. However, if you have a large group of students, the reading team can help as needed. Maze can be administered whole group by classroom teachers - the directions are linked here starting on slide 64.
K: PSF, NWF, and Q4 assessments
1st: NWF and ORF
2nd: ORF
3-6: ORF and Maze
Acadience Issue
The district is out of licenses for Acadience for this school year, so you will not be able to assess any new students on the digital platform. We will have to complete EOY assessments for those students paper pencil.
PD
Monday’s PD will be time to work on class lists and your EOY checklist as needed.
PLCs
PLCs are back to normal schedule next week.
District ELA and Math Meetings
Here is the document we took notes on so reps can share our feedback at the district meeting. The ELA meeting is May 4th and the math is May 11. Albright is planning to represent 4th grade at the ELA meeting, but please reach out if you need additional support!
