RMA Pasadena Weekly Update
Week of October 12th
Brief Message From the Principal
Welcome to Week 1 of Term 2! ππ
NEW TERM. FRESH START. BIGGER OPPORTUNITIES!
Welcome back, RMA Pasadena! We have officially completed Term 1, and we are beginning a new nine-week journey toward earning credits, accelerating graduation, and achieving our goals!
First, CONGRATULATIONS to our THREE Term 1 GRADUATES! ππ You have crossed the finish line, and we are incredibly proud of your accomplishments! Your success reminds every student at RMA Pasadena that graduation is possible, and every completed course brings you one step closer!
Now, let's talk about Term 2. We need a STRONGER START to Term 2 than the way we finished Term 1! That means taking what we learned during the first nine weeks and making better decisions about attendance, coursework, and personal accountability.
Students, here's where we go from here:
IF YOU EARNED YOUR CREDITS IN TERM 1, KEEP GOING! You met your attendance requirements, completed your coursework, and earned your credits. Congratulations! Now, build on that success. Remember, completing more than four courses each term can help you FAST TRACK your graduation!
IF YOU LOST COURSE CREDIT BECAUSE OF ATTENDANCE, START NOW! Some students may have exceeded the allowable number of absences during Term 1. Although you were not withdrawn from school, you may have lost credit for courses you completed or were working toward completing. Do not wait! We need you to begin Term 2 immediately so there is enough time remaining in the term to recover the coursework for which you lost credit.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS FROM DAY ONE! Every absence counts. Do not put yourself in a position where you complete the academic work but cannot receive credit because you failed to meet attendance requirements.
COMPLETE YOUR COURSES, NOT JUST YOUR DAILY ASSIGNMENTS! Whether you are enrolled in Face-to-Face, Edgenuity Lab, or CTE/Distance Learning courses, your goal is to finish each course and earn the credit. Progress is important, but completion is what moves you toward graduation!
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO GET AHEAD! Our flexible scheduling model gives you an opportunity to accelerate your graduation timeline, but that flexibility comes with responsibility. Make every school day count!
ASK FOR SUPPORT EARLY! If you struggled during Term 1, meet with your teachers and counselor now. We want to help you develop a plan before you fall behind.
Here's something I want every student to remember:
Term 1 is behind us. We cannot change the decisions we made yesterday, but we absolutely control the decisions we make TODAY!
For some students, Term 2 is an opportunity to maintain momentum. For others, it is an opportunity to recover lost ground. For EVERY student, it is an opportunity to move closer to graduation!
Our three Term 1 graduates have already shown us what crossing the finish line looks like.
WHO'S NEXT? π
Let's make Term 2 our strongest term yet!
NEW TERM. NEW OPPORTUNITIES. SAME GOAL: GRADUATION!
LET'S GO, RMA PASADENA!!! ππ
π Edgenuity Trackers βπ»
Students must complete an Edgenuity Tracker every day for each assigned Edgenuity course.
For every Edgenuity class, students must:
Log in to Edgenuity daily.
Record the course-completion percentage at the beginning of the Edgenuity period.
Work consistently throughout the period.
Record the updated course-completion percentage at the end of the period.
Repeat this process for every assigned Edgenuity course.
To complete a course within a nine-week target period, students should make a minimum of 3β4% progress in each course every day. Students who want to fast-track their progress should complete two or three times the minimum daily percentage.
Students requesting a new Edgenuity course must present their completed trackers to the counselor. The trackers will provide evidence of consistent daily progress and course completion.
Teachers are not obligated to unlock assignments for students working from home if those students are not consistently using their Edgenuity Trackers.
Remember: New Edgenuity courses may be assigned only through Week 7 of each nine-week term.
Daily tracking and consistent progress are essential for students who want to complete additional courses.
π‘ Did you know?
3β4β5: THREE NUMBERS EVERY RMA PASADENA STUDENT SHOULD REMEMBER!
Did you know that all absence excuse notices must be submitted within THREE days of an absence?
At the end of each term, the Attendance Review Committee (ARC) reviews student attendance records and submitted excuse notices. The committee considers not only the reason for each absence but also WHEN the excuse notice was submitted.
π’ REMEMBER 3β4β5!
3οΈβ£ THREE DAYS β Submit Your Excuse Notices!
- All excuse notices must be submitted within 3 days of the absence.
- The Attendance Review Committee considers submission dates when reviewing attendance.
- Submitting a notice does not automatically mean an absence will be excused.
4οΈβ£ FOUR DAYS β Maximum Allowable Absences!
- Up to 4 absences per term may be excused with appropriate documentation.
- Excused absences are INCLUDED inβnot added toβthe 4 allowable absences per term.
- An excuse notice does not erase or remove an absence from the attendance system.
5οΈβ£ FIVE ABSENCES β You've Exceeded the Limit!
- Reaching your 5th absence in a term exceeds the maximum allowable absences and places your course credits at risk.
- Students may lose credit for their courses even if they have completed the required coursework.
- Eligible students under 18 years old may qualify for attendance make-up days.
- Adult students (18+) and graduating seniors are NOT eligible for attendance make-up days.
π THE BOTTOM LINE!
3 DAYS to submit your excuse notice.
4 ABSENCES maximum per term.
5 ABSENCES puts your course credits at risk!
Remember, attendance is about more than showing up. You must meet attendance requirements AND complete your coursework to earn credits toward graduation!
START TERM 2 STRONG! BE PRESENT. COMPLETE YOUR COURSES. EARN YOUR CREDITS! ππ
