October - 2026
Message From Ms. Weaver
Dear Junior High Students and Families,
Welcome to October! As autumn settles in, we have a busy and exciting month ahead across our junior high community. Here are three critical priorities as we move through the coming weeks:
Mark Your Calendars: End of First Quarter (October 29)
The first quarter officially ends on Thursday, October 29. This milestone is a great opportunity for students to reflect on their academic growth and finish the grading period strong.
Students: Check Infinite Campus regularly, complete any outstanding assignments, and talk to your teachers now if you need extra support. Don't wait until the final days!
Parents: Take a few moments to review grades with your student this week so there are no surprises when report cards are finalized.
Every Day Counts: The Power of Consistent Attendance
Consistent school attendance is directly linked to academic success and student confidence. In junior high, lessons build quickly day-by-day, and missing class often means missing essential instruction, hands-on activities, and collaborative projects. Please make every effort to arrive on time and attend school every day unless your child is sick. If an absence is unavoidable, remember to contact the main office, send a written note into school, and encourage your student to check in with their teachers for makeup work right away.
Cultivating Kindness in Our School Community
Beyond academics, our primary goal is to ensure our school remains a safe, welcoming space where every student feels valued. Junior high can be a period of significant growth and change, making kindness, empathy, and respect more vital than ever. We encourage our students to look out for one another, include peers who might need a friend, and use encouraging words both in the hallways and online. Small acts of consideration build a strong, supportive academic community where everyone can thrive.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership, support, and dedication to making this school year a success. Let’s finish the first quarter strong together!
Warm regards,
Ms. Michele Weaver - 7th Grade House Principal

Message from the School Nurse - Mrs. Lauren Palladino
Welcome Back!
Muhlenberg School District is committed to supporting our students’ health and well-being. PA School Code Law does require certain health mandates for school-age students.
For 7th grade:
- Immunizations are required; these include Tdap and meningococcal vaccines.
-These vaccines were due before starting the school year. Please get updated vaccine records turned in as soon as possible to avoid exclusion.
- A physical exam should be on file, dated after July 1, 2024 (These should have been done last school year).
- Dental Examinations are also due during the 7th-grade school year.
- Any updated forms are to be turned into the school nurse’s office via email, fax, or dropped off.
You are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Important Reminders
Chromebooks
Please support your children in being prepared for school. All students should have a fully charged Chromebook to start every day. This allows them to fully participate in their educational experience!
Dress Code
Please encourage your students to dress appropriately for school. Dress code also applies to bags and headphones. Bags larger than 5" x 7" need to be clear. Smaller bags for personal items are permitted. Air Pods, headphones, and earbuds are also not permitted. You can refer to the MJHS Student Handbook for clarification.
Attendance
Parents are encouraged to call the school office to report a student absence for the day.
(Attendance # 610-921-8034 Ext. 3501)
Students must submit a Paper Copy Excuse Blank Slip for any absences when they return to school. (Students can get these slips from their Homeroom teachers or from the front office.)
Students have 3 school days to submit the Excuse Blank from the date they return to school.
OR
Parents may send an email explaining the reason for the absence to this email address:
**If a student is absent from school for 3 or more days, the Excuse Blank Slip must be accompanied by a Doctor’s note.
Grade Level Google Classrooms
Talk to Your Student!
Each grade level has a Google Classroom where students can find important information about school events, lunch menu, policies, clubs, activities, and MJHS highlights. Start a conversation with your students and ask them about their Google Classroom.

Ashley may be new to MJHS, but she has jumped right in and made an immediate impact! She brings a friendly personality, a positive attitude, and a "can-do" mindset to the office every day. We appreciate her willingness to help, learn, and take on whatever comes her way. Ashley, thank you for being such a great addition to our team and for helping make MJHS a better place! Make My Day Award 🏆
This is an award presented by our Dean of Students, Mr. Matt Coldren and our School Resource Officer, Officer Colella. This ongoing award celebrates MJHS students who demonstrate outstanding behavior and citizenship. Congratulations to all of the students who earned this award in September!
Dean's List - September
The students on the Dean's List are nominated by any teachers and administrators for excellence in attendance, behavior, academics, citizenship, and school involvement. Mr. Matt Coldren, the Dean of Students confirms the nominations. The MJHS team celebrates these students with a display in the office lobby and a special reward sponsored by a local business. This month, Pizza Como sponsored a pizza party and ice cream sandwiches in our courtyard for these students. Great Job!
