Writing Contribution Credit: Akil Mondesir

For over 50+ years, Mike devoted his time, energy, and heart to the people of Bedford, and particularly the schools. His contributions to our town are immeasurable, and his impact was felt by so many who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike was not only a friend to many, but also a mentor and coach who helped shape the lives of countless individuals throughout his time here. He was a constant and familiar face at every home game—whether it was football, basketball, soccer, track, or any other event. Mike could always be found in the stands, cheering on our athletes and capturing the moments with his trusty pen and pad, ready to document the achievements of our community. As a reporter for the Bedford Citizen, he also covered a wide variety of other school events and student accomplishment and provided a regular accounting of key issues taken up by the School Committee, Select Board, and Finance Committees to keep the community well-informed. A true pillar of Bedford, Mike was always there when something needed to be done, whether it was lending a helping hand or sharing a word of wisdom. His dedication to this town and its people was unparalleled, and his absence will be deeply felt by many of us. Mike will be sorely missed, but his legacy of kindness, service, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, and we join together in remembering a man who gave so much to our town.
