TVHS Safety and Security Expectations

Students,

Beginning Monday, August 31, the following expectations will be in place. These procedures are intended to help maintain a safe and secure campus, protect instructional time, and minimize disruptions to the school day.

Please review the following expectations carefully:

  • Leaving Campus During ELO or Lunch: If you choose to leave campus during ELO or lunch, you will not be permitted to re-enter the building until the end of that period.
  • Student ID Required: Students entering through designated student entrances must have either their physical student ID or access to their Infinite Campus ID on their phone. If you do not have either form of identification, you must enter through the main entrance.
  • Late Arrival: If you arrive late to school or return late to the building, you must enter through the main entrance.
  • Secure Exterior Doors: Do not hold exterior doors open for other students or prop doors open at any time. Everyone entering the building must follow the appropriate entry procedures. Keeping our building secure is everyone's responsibility.
  • Skateboards, Scooters, and E-Scooters: Riding skateboards, scooters, or e-scooters is not permitted on school grounds. Please walk and properly store these items while on campus.
  • Food Delivery Services: School personnel will not accept DoorDash or other food-delivery orders for students. Students will not be released from class to meet a delivery driver or pick up an order.
  • Vending Machine Use: Students may use the vending machines during passing periods and lunch only. Students should not visit the vending machines during instructional time or while out of class for a bathroom break. A bathroom break is not an opportunity to purchase snacks or drinks. Please plan accordingly and use the vending machines at the appropriate times.

These expectations are designed to keep our campus safe and secure while protecting instructional time. We appreciate your cooperation and your role in creating a positive school environment.

Thank you,

TVHS Administration

Health & Wellness Scoop

September Health Spotlight

Did you know that September is Healthy Aging Month? While “healthy aging” may sound like something for adults, the habits we build when we’re young—staying active, eating nutritious foods, getting enough sleep, drinking water, and taking care of our mental health—can help us stay healthy throughout our entire lives!

Hydration Station

As we settle into the school year, please remember to send your student to school with a water bottle each day. Staying hydrated can help students feel more alert, support concentration, and keep their bodies working at their best. Encourage your student to take regular water breaks throughout the day, especially after physical activity or during warmer weather.

Fun fact: Your brain is made up of about 73% water, so staying hydrated is important for both the body and the brain!

Coming Up: Hearing & Vision Screenings

Our hearing and vision screenings will be held September 29 and 30.

If your student wears glasses, please make sure they bring their glasses to school on their screening day! Having their glasses available allows us to screen their vision as accurately as possible.

Immunization Exclusion Day

Immunization Exclusion Day is coming in the near future. The date will be announced soon, so please stay tuned for more information from the school.

As always, if you have questions about your student’s health needs at school, please reach out to the Health Office. Cristina Frick (Health Aide) 970-613-7918 and Sheila Calder (Nurse) 970-613-6957

Stay tuned for more announcements, reminders, and the latest scoop from the Health Office!

September Library Challenge: Sora in September

This month, challenge yourself to explore Sora, our digital library app. There are thousands of ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more available to read, right at your fingertips!

Throughout the month, explore different areas of Sora, keep track of your progress on your digital tracker card, and if you complete all tasks and turn in your card to Mrs. Bauer in the library by September 30, you will be entered in a prize drawing.

Access Sora through your Classlink page or log in on this page.

Protect Your Student’s Chromebook with Safeware Insurance

Chromebooks are part of students’ everyday routines, moving between classrooms, backpacks, homes, and activities throughout the school year. With that everyday use, accidents can happen. Thompson School District encourages families to consider purchasing Safeware Chromebook insurance to help protect against unexpected repair costs.

For $25–$36 per year, depending on the Chromebook model, Safeware coverage includes common accidental damage such as cracked screens, drops and falls, liquid spills, along with covered parts and labor. There are no deductibles or service fees for covered repairs.

How it works

  • Purchase coverage directly from Safeware using district ID: DIST0132

  • If damage happens, there is no claim for families to file.

  • Bring the damaged Chromebook to the library at your student’s school.

  • TSD handles the rest, working directly with Safeware on your behalf.

Without insurance, families may be responsible for the cost of repairs. Common charges include $44 for a screen, $34 for a keyboard, $29 for a battery, and up to $146 for a system board, such as water damage. Full device replacement can cost $200–$300, depending on the model. For more information on device repair costs, visit TSD’s website.

Please note that Safeware insurance does not cover loss of the device or deliberate damage.

Get Connected at TVHS! 🦅

Hello TVHS Families!

My name is Misti Juergensen, and I am the Activities Coordinator at Thompson Valley High School. One of my favorite parts of my role is helping students find ways to get connected and involved in our school community!

TVHS offers a wide variety of clubs, activities, organizations, leadership opportunities, and Fine Arts programs. Whether students want to explore a new interest, meet new people, develop leadership skills, share their talents, or simply find a place where they belong, there is something for every Eagle.

Opportunities include everything from DECA, Robotics, Knowledge Bowl, and Book Club to Student Council, National Honor Societies, Band, Orchestra, Choir, Theater, Visual Arts, and much more!

Below, you’ll find a full list of our activities, clubs, and organizations, along with the staff sponsors to contact for more information. I encourage students to reach out to a sponsor, ask questions, and give something new a try!

If you’re not sure where to start or have questions about getting involved, please feel free to contact me at misti.juergensen@tsd.org. I’m happy to help connect your student with an opportunity that interests them.
