Making the Most of Every School Day Making the Most of Every School Day

At Westfield High School, we believe every minute of the school day matters. Our closed campus expectations during lunch and CORE Time (Flex Time) are designed to help students make the most of these opportunities while ensuring we can keep all students safe and that we can always account for their whereabouts during the day.

Students are expected to remain on campus during lunch and CORE Time. Attendance is taken during both portions of the day, and our established attendance and discipline procedures are followed if students leave campus without permission.

These expectations are about more than simply where students are during the school day. They help protect valuable instructional time, provide opportunities for students to connect, learn, and recharge, and allow our staff to know where students are at all times. In the event of an emergency, being able to accurately account for every student is essential to keeping our school community safe.

We appreciate our students and families partnering with us to uphold these expectations. Together, we can create a school environment that is safe, supportive, and focused on helping every student thrive.

Remind your Student to check their Canvas Page

Parents and Guardians!

Please remind your student to check their Canvas email throughout the school day!

If you drop off an item for your student at the Main Office, we will send them an email letting them know it is waiting for them.

We will not interrupt class to call students to the office for dropped-off items. It is the student’s responsibility to check their Canvas email and come to the Main Office during passing periods.

Thanks for helping us keep classroom time focused and interruptions to a minimum!

TalkingPoints-Family Communication

Westfield Washington Schools use a program called TalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.

This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.

The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
