The Lemon Crest ROAR
*Friday, January 9, 2026*
A Message from Principal Price
Dear Lemon Crest Families,
Happy New Year, Lemon Crest Families!
We are off to a fantastic start and had a great first week back to kick off 2026. It has been wonderful to welcome students back with so much energy, positivity, and readiness to learn. As we begin the second half of the school year, we are excited to continue growing together and planting possibilities for every Lion to thrive.
In December, we were incredibly proud of the large number of students who earned Positive Office Referrals for going above and beyond in showing ROARβRespect, On Task, Always Safe, and Responsible. These students earned a special invitation to a Hot Cocoa Party with Principal Price, and it was a joy to celebrate their positive choices and leadership. We are encouraging all students to keep up that momentum: consistently showing ROAR AND by making noticeable improvements in behavior. Every positive choice is a seed planted, and with care and effort, those seeds grow into strong habits and bright futures. We believe in you and your possibilities, Lions! π¦
As we move forward, we will continue reviewing our school-wide expectations and focusing on our three big goals: to learn, to stay safe, and to have fun. We have our first All-School Assembly TOMORROW, Friday, January 9 at 8am on the blacktop. Families, please join us! We also have grade-level gatherings where we'll come together to review behavior expectations for a strong winter/spring.
We are also preparing students for upcoming assessments, including NWEA MAP, CAASPP, and 5th Grade Science Testing later in the year. Families, remember that your support at home plays an important role in helping students stay motivated and confident. Together, we can encourage our Lions to try their best, believe in themselves, and lead with pride as we nurture growth and continue planting possibilities all year long.
Finally, on a personal note, I wanted to thank you to the families who reached out and wished me well with my cataract surgery in December. I have my second surgery this Monday, Jan. 12, so I will be out for a few days; we have awesome folks from our District Office who will be here to support our school while I'm out.
Take care,
Jen Price
Lemon Crest Principal

Contacting Teachers & Principal Price
If you have a question or concern about your child, we encourage you to speak with your child's teacher first. Please note that during the instructional day, teachers and staff may not be able to respond to your message, email or call since they are busy doing what they do best: teaching! Your child's teacher will respond to you when they are able. Thank you for understanding!
Contacting Principal Price:
Email: jprice@lsusd.net
Call the Front Office: (619) 390-2527 - The front office staff will take a message, and Principal Price will call you when she is available
In-Person: Call the office so Mrs. Whitehurst or Ms. Madina can help us set up a meeting so I can dedicate time to you!
Many of your questions may be answered in our Lemon Crest Family Handbook A-Z . We ask that all families read this.
Please know that there is a 24-48 hour "grace period" in my response time. When I respond, call or meet with you, I need time to get informed in order to have possible answers to your questions. I am prioritizing getting to know our students so I can support their success and am often not readily available in the office. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Theme for the Year: Planting Possibility
This year, our school's theme is Planting Possibility, inspired by the children's book, Curious Garden, written by Peter Brown. Click the link below for a read-aloud of the book by Principal Price!
