The Panther Voice - May
Week 7 Updates and Announcements
Hello Pathways Students and Families,
We made it through Count Day and a day of testing. Thank you to everyone who helped make both days successful. We hope you enjoy a long, restful weekend!
Looking Ahead: Family Conferences
Over the next two weeks, each teacher will offer 1–2 hours of virtual conference availability on one evening. Families are welcome to schedule an appointment or attend a drop-in session to connect with teachers, discuss student progress, and plan for a successful finish to the trimester.

If the available times don't work for you, please feel free to reach out to teachers by email or phone anytime. You can also expect personalized communication from your student's Mentor Teacher, who remains your primary point of contact at Pathways.
We're looking forward to connecting with families as we head into the final weeks of Trimester 1.
Enjoy the long weekend!

No Cell Phones During Instructional Time
Cell Phone Reminder
Michigan’s new law and AAPS policy require students to keep personal electronic devices away during instructional time unless a teacher specifically authorizes their use for learning or an approved exception applies. At Pathways, our expectation is simple: phones should be put away during class so students can be present, engaged, and focused on learning.
We'll be rolling out an additional support for students in the upcoming weeks to help them manage their phone and headphones during instructional time. Locking phone pouches coming soon!

New Online Tool Coming Soon for Youth Employment Permits
MDE is sharing the following message from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity:
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity is preparing to launch the new Youth Employment Permit Portal, a centralized online system that will modernize the state’s youth employment permit process and make it more convenient and accessible for minors, families and employers. Local school districts and nonpublic schools will no longer issue youth employment permits.
Beginning Oct. 2, employers and minors will use the new portal to complete the youth employment permit process through one statewide system. To help employers, schools, families and other stakeholders prepare for the transition, the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity will host a Youth Employment Permit Portal webinar on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 2–3:30 p.m. ET. For additional information and updates, visit Michigan.gov/YouthEmployment.
Food Gatherers is here the second Wednesday of every month starting at 4pm. Food boxes and non-perishables are available for anyone in need. All are welcome!

Take Advantage of Pathways Support and Success Times
At Pathways, every student has built-in time each day designed for academic growth and support. We encourage all students to take advantage of these opportunities to stay on track and thrive.
-
Mentor and Studio Time: Use these daily support periods to catch up on assignments, seek clarification, and strengthen your understanding in every class.
Parents and guardians, please take time to talk with your student about their attendance, grades, and progress. If you notice missing assignments or believe your student needs extra support, reach out directly to their teachers. Our team is here to partner with you in ensuring every student’s success.
