Welcome Back!
Dear Pleasant Hill Families,
We can hardly wait to welcome your children back to school after this beautiful Maine summer! Sharpened pencils, new crayons, fresh smiles, excitement, and the promise of a wonderful new year of learning await.
Staff have been busily preparing and we look forward to welcoming you and your child for your appointment with your child's teacher on either Wednesday, August 27 or Thursday, August 28. If you have not yet signed up for an appointment, or need to confirm your scheduled time, please contact Laurie in the main office at 730-5250.
And of course, mark your calendar for the first day of school which is Tuesday, September 2nd!
Answers to frequently asked questions can be found in our K-2 Family Handbook.
We wish you all a terrific weekend.
Warmly,
Jennifer Humphrey, Principal

Important PowerSchool Reminders
Please make sure you log into your child(ren)'s PowerSchool account and complete all the GENERAL forms for this year.
There are 6 forms that need to be filled out:
1)Student Profile Update
2)Contacts and Family Update:
Check to make sure you have all the proper guardians listed with a phone number and email and, at least one, but hopefully more, Emergency contacts. If someone will be picking up your child on a regular basis--childcare provider, neighbor, grandparent etc--please list them as a contact with Permission to Pick Up checked. PowerSchool does not share contacts between families, so please make sure all information is listed for each child.
3)Student Permissions
4)Health Update and Medical Authorizations
Our Fax number is 207-730-5251 if your doctor needs to send over immunizations or a medication order.
5)Chromebook Use Guide
The fee is not necessary at our level since the students only use the Chromebooks in a supervised environment and do not take them home.
6)Student Handbook Acknowledgement
If you are having trouble accessing these forms, we will be able to help you during your appointment day.
School Lunch Information
School lunch and breakfast is still free for all students this year but does need to be ordered so we have enough of each choice for all those that have ordered it.
Here is the link to the lunch menu page.
You can set up an account by clicking on the 3 lines in the upper right corner. Under login, there is an option to create an account. You will need your child's student number which is in their PowerSchool account. If you can't locate it, please call or email Laurie in the office. Please update your child's teacher if necessary.
Bus Routes
Bus routes and information on the MyRide app are available here.
Car Tags
We use car tags to match you to your student during dismissal. These tags will hang from your rear view mirror and will have the family name, as well as names of your students.
We will be giving new ones to all our new families during appointment days. Even if your child usually takes the bus, please keep the tag in your glove box in case you end up picking your child up periodically. We will give two to each family but if you need more please let us know. If grandparents or babysitters pick up your child and have your car tag, we know they have your permission to pick up.
Current families, if you can use your tag from last year, please do so. If it needs to be updated or is lost, you can let us know during your appointment days. There will be an Ed Tech in each wing who will be able to replace it for you.
Open House
Please mark your calendars for our Open House on Wednesday, September 17 from 5-6 PM.
This will be a great chance for you to see your child's classroom, some work from their early days of learning, and meet the PH staff!
Note: This date is newly corrected. Our apologies for any confusion. We look forward to seeing you on September 17th!
Summer Reading Challenge Reminder...
It's ON!
The Pleasant Hill Summer Reading Challenge...
Our hope is to keep students reading, reading, reading this summer!
If the PH students reach 75, 000 minutes of reading this summer, Mr. Martelle and Mrs. Humphrey plan to serenade students in song at a special assembly this fall! PH students will get to choose the song come fall.
Reading minutes can be:
- reading with a friend, loved one , or pet
- reading independently
- listening to an audiobook
So get out those books, and keep the reading going this summer!
How do I turn in my Summer Reading Challenge Paper?
Students brought home orange challenge sheets in their backpacks.
Rising K students, or anyone needing an extra copy (including rising 3rd graders): Pick up an orange challenge sheet from the PH Lobby anytime this summer. (When the office is closed challenge sheets will be left in a bin outside. Help yourselves!)
Reading challenge sheets can be turned in to the bin outside of the school during the last week of August, or turned in at the office by Wednesday, September 3rd (our 2nd full day of school).
