Dear Conover Road Primary School Families,

We wish all of our CRPS moms a very happy Mother's Day filled with lots of cuddles and love from your little ones!

Our team has truly been feeling the love from our incredible Colts Neck PTO who has showered us with daily treats in celebration of Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Additionally, so many children and families have shared special notes of appreciation with our team. We are grateful to have opportunities to contribute to your children's growth and learning and are thankful for your ongoing support!

Mental Health Awareness Day is today, May 7th. Today our students and staff will walk for our wellbeing in our Colts Neck Schools Wellness Walk-a-Thon. (Weather permitting) Students will walk on paved surfaces around the Elementary School with their class.

Last week featured visits from two incredible guests. First, we had author/illustrator David Biedrzycki meet with each grade level to share the steps he uses to illustrate and write children's books. Children loved watching him create a graphic based on the specifications that they supplied. This image was signed and proudly hangs in our library as a memento of his visit. (See pictures below).

We were also delighted to end Autism Awareness Month with a visit from former student and published illustrator, Ethan Lenza. Ethan spoke to students with candor about his experiences growing up with autism and how he had to overcome various challenges. He shared that art was always a way that he could communicate his feelings. Students in first grade were then guided in a directed drawing activity. (See pictures below).

We are excited to welcome Mobile Ed. Productions back to our school to present their "Earth Dome" assemblies. Thanks to a generous PTO mini-grant, students in K-2 will enter a gigantic inflatable earth balloon to learn about continents, time zones, and landforms. It is sure to be an engaging and interactive experience for all!

On Tuesday, May 26th, our students will be audience members to a lively musical performance of "Pout, Pout Fish." Children will love seeing a favorite story come to life on the CRPS stage. Children will have opportunities to complete Venn Diagrams to compare the books and the performance with our librarian, Mrs. Frick.

Field Day 2026 will soon be here! Mrs. Tym and Mr. Baiata will be sending a link requesting volunteers for our "Field Day Across America" in honor of our Nation's 250 years! Field Day will take place on June 9, 2026 and will be divided into an AM session for Children in Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten. The PM session will be specific to grades 1 and 2. We appreciate all of our parent volunteers!

Mark your calendars for the Evening of the Arts 2026 to take place on Tuesday, June 2nd from 6-7:30 PM. The theme is "Sketches, Stories and Sounds" as this event will also be the first night of the Book Fair and will feature student musicians and artists.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 School Year is underway! In order for your child to be included in an upcoming Kindergarten Preview event, please make sure to register ASAP. Please note that children must be five years of age on or before October 1st. Children who will be six years of age on or before October 1st will be placed in first grade.

Our country is celebrating 250 years! To join in the fun, the CNBOE is hosting contests for students to showcase their love for America. See the contest information guidelines below.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
