El Paso High - #TigerStrong
Week 7
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 16, 2024
Tigers-
I want to share how Holdsworth went with you all. Last week, Gema Del Campo and I had the opportunity to attend a transformative workshop at the Holdsworth Center focused on enhancing our approach to instruction. As you know, math scores statewide have seen a decline since the Covid pandemic, and we’re committed to turning that trend around here at El Paso High.
Our goal is clear: to elevate our math scores and ensure every student has the tools and support they need to excel. I am confident that with our collective effort we’ll be implementing, we can make a significant impact.
Stay tuned for more updates as we roll out these new initiatives. Together, we will continue to drive excellence and foster a thriving learning environment for our students.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication and support!
Week 6 Highlights:
We had 250 parents attend our Parent/Teacher Conference. Continue to have an open line of communication with parents/guardian. If you are having trouble contacting a parent, let your AP know, so they can help.
State Representative Lina Ortega came to EPHS to talk to students about the importance to voting.
On September 11th at 6am we hosted approximately 100 soldiers as they walked up and down our stadium steps in honor of those we lost on September 11, 2001. Thank you to STUCO for providing them with a light breakfast afterwards.
Angie Reed and I attended the Partners in Education (PIE) at Ft. Bliss Centennial Hall. We are partnered up with Army Unit 4-27FA.
Here’s to a great week ahead!

Attendance is Down
I wanted to take a moment to address an important issue that affects us all: our current attendance rates. Lately, we’ve seen a decline in student attendance, and I’m reaching out to enlist your support in turning this trend around.
Consistent attendance is crucial for student success, and every day missed is an opportunity lost for our students to engage in learning and growth. Here’s where we can all make a difference:
Encourage Engagement: Let’s continue to create a welcoming and engaging classroom environment that motivates students to come to school. Whether it’s through inspiring lessons, positive interactions, or exciting projects, your enthusiasm makes a big impact.
Open Communication: If you notice any students struggling with attendance, please reach out to them or their families to offer support and understanding. Sometimes a simple conversation can make a world of difference.
Promote the Importance: Reinforce with students and parents the importance of regular attendance and how it contributes to their academic success and future opportunities.
Together, we can help our students recognize the value of each school day and improve our overall attendance. I appreciate your dedication and proactive efforts in this matter.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our students’ success.
ROOMS App
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our instructional tools and streamline our administrative processes, I wanted to remind everyone that the district-mandated Rooms app is now in full use. This app is a crucial part of our strategy to improve communication and organization within our classrooms.
This week, administration team will be visiting PLCs to check in and offer any additional support you may need with the Rooms app. Our goal is to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the app and to address any questions or challenges you might be facing.
If you have any specific issues or require assistance before our visit, please feel free to reach out to Bruce or Kelly or your AP. We want to make sure you have all the resources you need to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Intruder Detection Audits
Stay Vigilant
The state has start conducting Intruder Detection Audits again. We have failed that last two audits. Doors were propped opened and it took several minutes for anyone to ask a person without an ID who they were.
Required Actions:
-Keep all exterior doors locked.
-All adults must have an ID on. If not, walk them to the attendance office.
-Remove all rocks from exterior doors. This includes portable doors.
