5th Grade Service Project - Annual Food Drive Rally coming up!
The 5th grade service project will wrap up for the year with the annual food drive. As we have done for many years, we will be collecting donations for the Cuba Township Food Pantry. This year we're also collecting outgrown spirit wear. Drop boxes will be available inside the school near the front office. For your convenience, 5th grade volunteers will be available to accept curbside donations directly from your vehicle in the morning drop off line. The food drive rally is coming up -- Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15. Our 5th graders have made a real impact this year - let's support them in making this a record year for donations to the food pantry! Please see the wish list for more details.
THANK YOU!
A HUGE Thank you to our Roslyn families! Our 3rd-5th graders thoroughly enjoyed all the snacks donated for IAR testing. We appreciate your generosity and kindness.
Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming Up!
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4 through May 8. Here is what all parents need to know:
Tuesday, 5/5: "Fan Mail Day"- Have your student bring a Thank You note to their teacher(s). You may choose to include a gift card
Wednesday, 5/6: "Groupies Day"- Have your student wear their classroom teacher's favorite color
Friday, 5/8: "Concert Concessions"- If you would like, have your child bring a small snack, sweet treat or nonperishable beverage to their teacher(s)
Room Parents will provide families with the teacher's favorite things list
This year, PTO is making an extra effort to ensure that all staff members are recognized. We are looking for volunteers to honor the amazing Roslyn specialist teachers. Please see the SignUpGenius for how you can help. Can't volunteer but still want to ensure the specialists feel the love? Consider contributing to a school gift for specialists by donating any amount HERE (please put "Teacher Appreciation Week" in the message memo).
Special thank you to the room parents for making this awesome week happen for our rockin' Roslyn staff!
Erin's Law
Many states, including Illinois, have passed a law with the intent of increasing the awareness of child sexual abuse. You may have heard of this legislation under its more common name, Erin's Law, in honor of Erin Merryn, a young woman who has traveled across the country advocating for laws that will increase awareness of this crime against children. One of the requirements of this law is that schools provide an age appropriate curriculum to all students relating to sexual abuse prevention. The purpose of the lessons is to provide students with the tools they need for personal safety and to help them build confidence in advocating for themselves.
Developmentally appropriate lessons will be conducted with Roslyn Road students beginning on May 11-15th. The lessons will be taught by our social workers and school psychologist. Your child's teacher will also be present during this presentation.
If you would like to have your child opt out of this experience, please notify your child's classroom teacher and Mr. Kirk by May 6th.

Safety on the Playground
Our playground is a very popular place-- even when school is NOT in session. We would like to remind you that it is important to play safely while on school grounds. Please do not use sticks to dig small holes, or race bicycles on the grounds. We want everyone to stay safe while using our awesome playground! Thank you!
