THE BEAR ESSENTIALS
Week of January 12, 2026
Hello Bear Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back to 2026! We are entering a very important academic period. Semester 1 will officially come to a close on January 23, with final exams taking place January 20–23. These exams play a significant role in determining students’ semester grades and provide an opportunity for them to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed over the past several months.
The weeks leading up to exams move quickly and are a critical time for students to stay focused and engaged. We strongly encourage all students to complete and turn in any missing or incomplete assignments as soon as possible, as outstanding work can greatly impact final grades and exam readiness. Teachers are reviewing key concepts and helping students prepare, but consistent effort, attendance, and organization during this time are essential.
Families play a vital role in supporting student success. We ask that parents and guardians regularly check Parent Connect to monitor grades, attendance, and missing assignments, and to talk with students about their progress and exam preparation. Staying informed allows concerns to be addressed early and helps reinforce expectations at home. Your encouragement and partnership make a meaningful difference as we work together to ensure every student is prepared, confident, and successful during final exams. Thank you for your continued support.
Go Bears!

Block Out Cancer Campaign
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our Block Out Cancer campaign. Your generosity and support made a significant impact, and we are thrilled to share that we were able to donate $25,323.95 to Motts Children's Hospital! Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer, and it's all thanks to your kindness.
Athletics
Flag Football
Girls Flag Football is a growing sport, and we are excited to announce that RHS will have a team this spring! This is NOT an MHSAA sport. It is a club that will be a one year pilot program and reviewed for continuity into next year. The league is organized and sponsored through the Detroit Lions and NFL. The season goes from April 25th - May 16th. It is only a 5 week season and games will not interfere with a spring sport as games will be Saturday evenings or Sundays. This will be open to Junior and Senior girls to begin the program. A sign up form will be sent out soon.
A message from our Athletic Director
Hello Roosevelt High School Families,
We are providing you with free access to the CoreCourseGPA.com program, which now includes a one-of-a-kind recruiting profile for your use! The CoreCourseGPA.com 3 Step Recruiting Process is very easy to follow and use for your recruiting benefit.
Every semester counts! So, it is advantageous to begin using CoreCourseGPA.com as a freshman, or anytime in your HS career.
Just scan the attached QR code to set up your free membership. Be sure to save/write down the member name and password you create. You may then login to CoreCourseGPA.com by clicking the red Member Login button in the upper right corner.
- Next, follow the 3-Steps CoreCourseGPA.com has developed to help get you recruited:
- -Step 1: Use the CoreCourseGPA.com software to calculate and project your NCAA core GPA (it's different from your report card GPA)
- Step 2 - Set up your Recruiting Profile
- Step 3 - Use the CoreCourseGPA.com provided search engines to email college coaches directly.
It's that simple. Get started today!
IMPORTANT - The CoreCourseGPA.com program is NOT a substitute for having your athlete register with the NCAA and/or NAIA Eligibility Centers. CoreCourseGPA.com serves as a tool to prepare your athlete academically for the NCAA and/or NAIA eligibility process, in addition to providing recruiting resources to assist with your recruitment.
Sincerely,
Mike Schley
Athletic Director
We are reminding our Wyandotte Roosevelt Bear fans that we have an entirely cashless system for all sports event admissions through GoFan https://gofan.co/app/school/MI10074. This cashless ticketing effort is designed to significantly enhance the experience for our fans, improve operational efficiency, and increase security for everyone. By embracing this, we are aligning with much of the Downriver League, other area schools, schools around the State of Michigan, and the MHSAA. This also reflects the evolving preference of consumers, with many studies showing that many fans now expect and prefer digital payment options. We will accept all major credit and debit cards and will have card readers available at Roosevelt High School home events. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the gate using a mobile device or a credit/debit card. The best way to purchase tickets is to download the GoFan App to your phone. We also remind you that spectators 62 and over and 5 and under do not have to pay admission (this does not apply to tournaments or MHSAA events). We appreciate your cooperation and continued support in making cashless ticketing a success. We are confident that this will lead to a more efficient, secure and enjoyable experience for all spectators. Go Bears!
