🐾 A Note from the Principal: November Highlights!

Hello Families,

As the vibrant colors of autumn deepen, we eagerly anticipate a month filled with reflection, community spirit, and exciting activities here at school! November is a special time to recognize our gratitude and come together as a school community.

Key Dates and Community Events

Mark your calendars for these important upcoming events:

  • Picture Retake Day (Wednesday, November 4): If your student was absent on the original picture day or you'd like retakes, please be sure they are ready on this day!

  • Veterans Day Recognition (Wednesday, November 11): We will be holding a small ceremony or special recognition event to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. More details will come home soon about how students can participate.

  • PTC Popcorn Day (Saturday, November 21): Enjoy a classic treat! Your Parent-Teacher Club (PTC) has already purchased the popcorn bags, so simply keep an eye out for information on how they will be distributed to students. Your past support makes these fun days possible!

  • Thanksgiving Recess (Thursday, November 26 – Saturday, November 28): School will be closed as we take time to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends. We wish everyone a safe and restful break!

Giving Back: Community Drives

We have two great opportunities this month to support both people and pets in our community:

  • Community Food Drive (Starts November 3rd-21st): We are launching our annual Non-Perishable Food Drive this month! This is a wonderful opportunity to teach our students the importance of kindness and giving back by helping local families in need during the holiday season. (List of Items to be collected below)

  • Animal Shelter Donation Drive: Our high school's National Honor Society (NHS) has organized a special service project! We are collecting clean, gently used blankets and soft, washable stuffed animals to be donated to our local animal shelter. These items help provide warmth and comfort to animals awaiting adoption. Collection boxes will be available in the main office starting soon. Thank you for helping our furry friends!

Looking Ahead to December

Get ready for some festive fun!

  • PTC Holiday Dance (Friday, December 5): Save the date for a joyful evening of music and dancing sponsored by our PTC!

  • Holiday Shop (Monday, December 8 – Friday, December 12): Students will have the opportunity to purchase inexpensive gifts for family members right here at school.

We encourage you to check your student's backpacks regularly for specific times, permission slips, and updates on these events. Your involvement makes our school a vibrant place to learn!

Drop off and Pick up Drop off and Pick up

Drop Off

If you are parking in the parking lot, please make sure that when you are dropping off your child that you are walking them all the way across the parking lot and to the entrance. This is to keep your child safe from crossing vehicles and ensure that they make it to the school safely.

If you are going to use the drop off line please be sure to stay in your vehicle at all times. If you need to get out of your vehicle for any reason, please pull into a parking space.

Pick Up

When you are coming to pick up your child, be sure to make contact with your child's teacher to ensure that your child is being picked up by the appropriate person. Be careful when exiting the parking lot as well, we have already had a few incidents and would appreciate no more.

Do not block driveways, crosswalks, or fire lanes.

If you’re doing a quick drop-off, pull all the way forward before stopping so we can keep the line moving.

Attendance & Appointments

We know life happens, but consistent attendance is one of the biggest factors in a child’s success at school — both academically and socially.

  • If your child must leave for an appointment, call the office (517-223-6400) ahead of time so we can have them ready.

  • Please limit early pickups and tardies when possible — those minutes add up quickly.
