Governing Board Candidate Forum Sept 29! Submit a Question for the Candidates!
Your voice matters in shaping the future of Deer Valley schools! Four candidates are competing for two open seats on the Deer Valley Unified School District Governing Board this November. To help you make an informed decision, our district’s PTA/PTO groups are sponsoring a Governing Board Candidate Forum on September 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the DVUSD District Office Board Room (20402 N. 15th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85027). A candidate meet-and-greet will take place right before the event at 5:30 p.m. Questions for the candidates are being accepted from Sept. 3 - Sept 18 using this link.
During the forum, candidates will answer a series of questions submitted by the DVUSD community. Leaders from the PTA/PTO groups sponsoring the forum will determine the final list of questions that are asked at the event. This forum provides an opportunity for the community to get to know the candidates and their perspectives on important issues.
To view the forum live or later, visit the DVUSD Governing Board's YouTube Channel. (youtube.com/@dvusdboard).

While DVUSD does not have any propositions on the ballot this year. However, Proposition 320 on the ballot could significantly impact school districts across the state. DVUSD Earns a Spot on Forbes Best Midsize Employer List
Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD) has once again been named a Forbes Best Midsize Employer in Arizona. This recognition marks the seventh time the District has made the list since 2019!
DVUSD was one of only two school districts in Arizona to make the list and one of only 75 employers in Arizona.
The 11th annual rankings were based primarily on survey responses from more than 217,000 employees at U.S. companies with more than 1,000 employees.
Survey respondents, who remained anonymous so they could answer freely, were asked whether they would recommend their employer to others and to rate it on a range of criteria, including salary, work environment, benefits, and opportunities to advance. Participants were also asked whether they would recommend their previous employers within the past two years, as well as employers they knew through their industry experience or through friends or family who worked there.
The responses were tallied and analyzed alongside additional survey data from the last three years, enabling a robust assessment of organizations that consistently ranked well versus those that may have had just one good year.

Early Childhood Updates!
Teaching Digital Citizenship
Kids today may seem like experts at using technology, but the digital world requires a range of skills and habits that they don’t just pick up along the way. Digital citizenship helps students learn essential skills to navigate and communicate safely and responsibly with technology. Digital citizenship lessons are taught and reinforced throughout the year for DVUSD students. The lessons utilized in each grade address digital topics relevant to the specific age level and satisfy district compliance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements to provide instruction on internet safety and appropriate online behavior. DVUSD selected lessons for the fall semester from Common Sense Media's Digital Literacy Curriculum, designed to prepare students to navigate an increasingly digital world by encouraging reflection on tech use and thoughtful choices about how and when to use it.
