Spotlight on the Legacy Art Program
Program Spotlight July 2026
The Program Spotlight is a series of informal interviews with different groups of educators at Legacy Academy. This month's spotlight is shining on Legacy's Art Program led by Callie White (elementary) and Hailey Richardson (middle school). Be on the lookout for more videos over the summer and fall!
Encouraging Creativity Through the Artistic Process
Encouraging creativity through the artistic process helps students work together with their peers to enjoy the entire process of creating artwork instead of just the outcome. Middle schoolers also get to learn about art history. Elementary students learn that anyone can be an artist through learning basic principles of art by starting with a simple dot.
Community Involvement Through the Art Program
Legacy’s Night of the Arts celebrated its 3rd event this year. The students look forward to sharing their art with the community. This special event showcases student’s creativity and art history with the entire school and community members.
Freedom Through Experimentation
Freedom of Choice and Project Objectives
A great day in Legacy’s art rooms involves freedom of choice while following project objectives. Students have an atmosphere filled with music and fun were they are able to create through "organized chaos" with set expectations.
2026-2027 Art Goals
New processes will be implemented for the next school year so families can learn more about the processes and objectives for class projects. Student's will also be able to do self-evaluations that they can use to strengthen their skills moving forward.
