The LISD RAPPort: Community Newsletter
LISD Families,
We are just about a month away from the end of the school year, and I couldn’t be more proud of the exceptional moments I get to witness in and around our schools every day! One incredible experience to add to the list is Monday's solar eclipse. Witnessing the wonder and amazement through the eyes of our students is truly something I'll never forget! If you haven't already, click HERE to view photos of the eclipse at LISD.
Our district leaders and the LISD Board of Trustees continue to work through cost-saving measures as we face a $17 million budget deficit. I want to reiterate how grateful I am to the voters who approved the VATRE in the fall election, which reduced our deficit from $48 million to $17 million. LISD staff is working as #OneLISD to bring forth budget reductions for next school year, and district leaders have taken proactive steps over the last several months to reduce our expenses. We’re also inviting community members to apply to be a part of our Community Efficiency Committee, which will study our campus enrollments and facility usage in order to get feedback as we analyze the efficiency of our facilities. Keep reading my newsletter for more information and to apply if you are interested.
Early voting is quickly approaching for the May 4th election this spring. I encourage you to visit the bond website at LISDBond.com for more information about the projects included. The most important thing to remember is that even if all three propositions are approved, the LISD tax rate will not change!
Our students are accomplishing incredible things, and your partnership in their education is crucial to ensuring their success. I’m so grateful you’ve chosen LISD as your home, and for the continued support of our LISD families and communities!

Community Efficiency Committee
Funding of public education is a partnership between the state and local communities, and we are thankful that our community approved the VATRE in November. We continued to hope that our legislature, with a historic $33 billion surplus, would increase the basic allotment for public schools, but unfortunately the legislature did not take any action to address that part of the school funding partnership during the 88th Legislative Session. As a result, public schools are looking at dealing with inflationary costs from 2019 until the legislature meets again in 2025.
LISD staff are working as ONE LISD to bring forth more than 17 million dollars in budget reductions for next school year, and district leaders have taken proactive steps over the last several months to reduce our expenses. Some examples include making reductions to central office personnel and overall budgets; and adjusting campus staffing as our overall enrollment continues to decrease.
LISD is also establishing the Community Efficiency Committee to study our campus enrollments and facility usage in order to get feedback as we analyze the efficiency of our facilities. If you are interested in joining the Community Efficiency Committee, please click HERE.
On May 4, registered voters residing within Lewisville ISD boundaries will be asked to consider a total of three propositions that would generate additional funding to conduct maintenance, repairs and renovations at various athletics and recreation facilities across the district, as well as all five existing high school stadiums and the district’s two existing Aquatic Centers. Even if voters approve all three bond propositions (totaling $101.8M), the LISD tax rate will not change. Find details at LISDBond.com.

TECC-East Breaks Ground on Voter-Approved Expansion
Lewisville ISD’s Technology, Exploration and Career Center East campus (TECC-East) recently broke ground on its facility expansion. This construction was approved by voters in the 2017 bond election and will be the final major project from the 2017 referendum. The new construction will allow for more students to take Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes at the campus, which currently serves thousands of high schoolers seeking to earn professional certifications and hands-on career experience before graduation.
