"Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity."
Simone Weil
I've been thinking a lot lately about what a resource our attention is. Am I giving my attention intentionally to the things and people that I really value? Or am I giving it reactively to whatever or whomever shouts most loudly for it? What about you? Are you investing your attention wisely?
In the Gospels, Jesus' interactions with people gives us a model for where our attention should be focused - on the poor, the vulnerable, the broken, the lonely and the lost. Today's teenagers surely qualify as worthy of our attention and B-PV Young Life's mission community is working hard to give them the care they deserve.
Below are some highlights from our work in the past few weeks...
IMPACT…
WyldLife and Young Life have kicked off the year and kids and leaders are excited to be back together at Club! Leaders are looking forward to engaging student leaders in planning tons YL fun for the fall semester!
PRAYER…
6:55 AM. That's the time that our Committee has committed to praying for the students in our community. If you feel called we'd love for you to set a reminder and join us in praying and paying attention to what the Lord is doing in and through B-PV Young Life.
FINANCES…
As 2025 comes to a close, we know that many people are considering their family's finances and looking forward to being generous to organizations that they care about. A year-end gift to B-PV Young Life can have a big, even eternal, impact as it helps us continue reaching kids with the hope of Jesus through life-on-life relationships that matter. This year we have a BIG need and a BIG goal! We need to raise $15,000 by December 31st to finish 2025 strong and launch into 2026 with everything we need to train leaders, host Clubs kids love being a part of and experience the adventure of Camp. Every gift makes a difference — whether it’s $50 or $5,000 — and brings us closer to reaching more kids with the Gospel. Please prayerfully consider how you can help us reach our goal and be on the lookout for more information about year-end giving.
STAFF, COMMITTEE & LEADERS…
This year's Cornhole Challenge was a celebration of the legacy of paying well deserved attention to teenagers that B-PV Young Life is working to leave in our community and we couldn't have done it without the MANY people who contributed! A big THANK YOU to the planning team, our Committee, new and returning players and sponsors, spectators, friends of YL who donated and bid on silent auction items and our hosts at Twin Span. We're grateful and already looking forward to next year! If you're interested in helping plan the 2026 Cornhole Challenge, please reach out to Colbie, Anne, Kristen or me!
Thank you for being a friend of B-PV Young Life as we work to be a friend to teenagers in our community. Pray for us as we pray for you.
Peace and prayers,
Emily
